ACM SIGMOD 日本支部では、11月6日(月)に、
「VLDB 2006 国際会議報告、ならびに、オープンソース 検索エンジン・DBMS 関連」
をテーマとする大会 (ACM SIGMOD日本支部第35回支部大会) を開催致します。
本大会は、一体運営をしている日本データベース学会と ACM SIGMOD 日本支部の
共催で、日本データベース学会会員（＝ ACM SIGMOD 日本支部会員）の皆様を
対象とする講演会となっております。
VLDB はデータベースシステム分野の主要な国際会議のひとつで，去る9月12日
から9月15日まで韓国ソウルで開催されました。
その最新動向について、京都大学の 義久智樹 先生よりご紹介いただきます。
一方、「オープンソース 検索エンジン・DBMS 関連」につきましては、オープン
ソースの全文検索エンジンならびに DBMS の研究開発動向に着目した企画に
なっておりまして、最先端でご活躍の方々を講師としてお招きしております。
未来検索ブラジルの 末永 匡 様には、組み込み型全文検索エンジン Senna に
ついて、ミクシィの 平林 幹雄 様には、全文検索システム Hyper Estraier
について、ビーコンIT 大須賀 一暢 様には、オープンソースDBMS MaxDB に
ついて、また、NEC からは PostgreSQL と MySQL の運用性向上に向けた取り
組みについてご紹介いただきます。
また、米国 Missouri-Rolla 大学の Sanjay Madria 先生には、関係データベー
スに格納されている XML 文書を対象とする Change Detection 手法について
ご講演いただきます。

Data Bases (VLDB2006) の参加報告を行う。(後半)

「XML Change Detection using Relational Model」
Sanjay Madria (University of Missouri-Rolla)
With the role of XML getting more and more important in
Web services and many different application domains,
storing XML data in different existing data models
becoming more interesting. For example, most of the
E-commerce companies still use relational model for
storing XML data. Since XML data on Web changes, and users
are often not only interested in the current XML data but
also in analyzing changes over a period of time to learn
about the evolution of the Web. The change detection
methods available currently mainly uses DOM tree-based
comparison approaches, which are not scalable. Moreover,
if XML data is conveted into relational model to store
then XML data has to be mapped back to DOM tree before
applying these existing techniques. In this talk, I
introduce methods to detect changes in XML data after they
are stored in relational model. The proposed methods uses
SQL operations to detect changes such as move, insert,
delete and updates between two versions of XML data stored
in a relational database. I will present the performance
results which are compared with some existing prototypes
including commercial XML change detection tools.

オープンソースソフトウェア（ＯＳＳ）のデータベースとし
て利用されることの多いＰｏｓｔｇｒｅＳＱＬとＭｙＳＱＬ
の特徴について説明します。また、ＯＳＳデータベースの適
用の拡大に伴い、データベースの運用性が重要となってきて
おり、その運用性向上に向けた取り組みについて説明します。
具体的には、データベースの運用監視と障害診断およびデー
タベースの復旧などについて説明します。

オープンソースDBMSであるMaxDBは、ドイツで開発され、現
在はSAP社の標準DBMSとして全世界で稼働しています。MaxDB
の概要のご紹介と、我々ビーコンITがお客様とお付き合いす
る中でわかってきた企業のオープンソース導入の実情とオー
プンソースＤＢＭＳに掛ける期待をお話ししたいと考えてい
ます。

Computing systems including hardware, software, communication and
networks are growing towards an ever increasing scale and heterogeneity,
becoming overly complex. Such complexity is getting even more critical
with the ubiquitous permeation of embedded devices and other pervasive
systems. To cope with the growing and ubiquitous complexity, Autonomic
Computing (AC) focuses on self-manageable computing and communication
systems that exhibit self-awareness, self-configuration, self-optimization,
self-healing, self-protection and other self-x operations to the maximum
extent possible without human intervention or guidance. Organic Computing
(OC) additionally emphasizes natural-analogue concepts like
self-organization and controlled emergence.
Any autonomic or organic system must be trustworthy to avoid the risk
of losing control and retain confidence that the system will not fail.
Trust and/or distrust relationships in the Internet and in pervasive
infrastructures are key factors to enable dynamic interaction and
cooperation of various users, systems and services. Trusted/Trustworthy
Computing (TC) aims at making computing and communication systems as
well as services available, predictable, traceable, controllable,
assessable, sustainable, dependable, persist-able, security/privacy
protect-able, etc.
A series of grand challenges exist to achieve practical self-manageable
autonomic systems with truly trustworthy services. ATC-07 addresses the
most innovative research and development in these challenging areas and
includes all technical aspects related to autonomic/organic computing
(AC/OC) and trusted computing (TC). ATC-07 is a successor of the First
Int'l Workshop on Trusted and Autonomic Ubiquitous and Embedded Systems
(TAUES-05, Japan, Dec.), the Int'l Workshop on Trusted and Autonomic
Computing Systems (TACS-06, Austria, Apr.), and the 3rd International
Conference on Autonomic and Trusted Computing (ATC-06, Three Gorges,
China, Sep.).

As one of the most important international conferences sponsored by the TCDP
of the IEEE Computer Society, the International Conference on Advanced
Information Networking and Applications (AINA-07) will be held in Niagara
Falls, Canada, May 21-23, 2007. The conference covers theory, design and

PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINE
==========================
Submit a full paper (IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style:
two columns, single-spaced), including figures and references, using 10
fonts, and number each page. You can confirm the IEEE Computer Society
Proceedings Author Guidelines at the following web page:

AINA-07's submission web site is http://ehpclab.stfx.ca/~aina07/
Accepted papers will be given guidelines in preparing and submitting
the final manuscript(s) together with the notification of acceptance. The
proceedings will be published by IEEE Computer Society Press. Authors of
accepted papers, or at least one of them, are requested to register and
present their work at the conference, otherwise their papers will be
removed from the digital library after the conference.
Distinguished papers accepted and presented in AINA-07, after further
revisions, will be published in special issues on prestigious international
journals such as IJHPCN, IJWMC, JPCC, JMM, etc.

In conjunction with the AINA-07 conference, about 10 workshops will be held.
If you would like to organize a workshop, please submit a workshop proposal
including call for paper, number of papers to be accepted, contact person,
