These systems' availability, reliability, dependability, security, and privacy, all lend support to many core societal needs including: critical utility infrastructure, finance and banking, health services, production and manufacturing, leisure and entertainment, and e-Government. Improving our ability to engineer such systems requires a good understanding of how they behave at scale in the real world. Unfortunately, resource constraints have generally restricted research from pursuing such evaluation and testing work. Recently, test beds in the order of 100-node have become relatively commmonplace, and combined with the development of larger-scale platforms such as EmuLab and DETER, they have advanced our knowledge considerably. Following the success of QuEST09 in Bradford UK, QuEST10 in Perth Australia, and QuEST 11 in Singapore, this workshop focuses on the issues, requirements, and tools to support real-world representative at scale testing, and results obtained through such testing efforts. Statistically representative quantitative measures and evaluations required for the development and assessment of large-scale systems and applications are of particular interest. Original research works addressing the state-of-the art large-scale system testing, evaluation and behavioural prediction are solicited in the following areas (but not limited to): * Test bed development * Measurement and instrumentation tool development * In situ system testing * Real-world system modeling * Real-world application characterization * Real-world system emulation * Real-world case studies * Cyber security * Workload and traffic generation * Distributed system dependability, scalability, and capacity * Network engineering design * Large-scale engineering, scientific and data-intensive algorithms Submission Deadline: October 1, 2011 (23:59 PST) Author Notification: December 1, 2011 Author Registration Deadline: December 23, 2011 Final Manuscript Due: January 6, 2012 Original full papers of at most 6 (six) pages including figures and references in PDF (Proceedings Style: two columns, single-spaced, 10 font) are solicited. The conference has the focus on the frontier topics in the theoretical and applied engineering and computer science subjects. The IMECS conferences serve as good platforms for our members and the entire engineering community to meet with each other and to exchange ideas. Our IMECS committees have been formed with over two hundred and sixty committees members who are mainly research center heads, faculty deans, department heads, professors, and research scientists from over 30 countries. Streamsの講演ですが、手元の資料は強力に充実しております。ストリームコンピューティング　と言われても　今一つ具体的な成功例の感触が弱いという印象の方、ぜひ今回ご参加ください。 Streamsの製品自体の解説は　IBM社のWEBサイトを見ると　出ておりますが、（今調べてみると　こういうURLがあります： SIGMOD2011（６・１２開催、アテネ、渡辺陽介先生＠東工大）です。　今回の報告では、午前に、SIGMODの基調講演で行なわれました「Internet Scale Storage」と「科学データ管理」いう発表の報告を行ないます。これらは、DB研究の立場から、巨大データ・クラウドコンピューティング・科学技術データ処理・脳計算（シナプス）とインデックス、など米国のチャレンジを取り上げており、デジタル論文集を読むだけではわからない中身となっています。また、併設のPODS2011の基調講演からは、データの来歴管理(Data Provenance) の具体的な研究体系の話を取り上げています。これも　なかなか面白い話で、上手い体系を作るのに皆苦心しているが重要性は日本でも良く認識されている領域と思います。　午後の報告では、best paper を中心に、クラウドソーシングとDB技術の統合利用方式など、ホットな個別研究のご紹介を頂きます。 ------- 今回の目玉２：　IBM　のストリーム計算システム　------ 　さらに、今回の支部大会では、特別講演として、午後の後半部に、 IBMのストリーム計算プラットフォーム　IBM InfoSphere Streams のご紹介を　IBM東京基礎研究所の安江俊明博士にお引き受け頂きました。ここ数年のSIGMODなどでIBMから出ていたストリーム計算システムの具体的な中身を発表していただけます。巨大データ＋リアルタイムなデータ処理＋高価値創出と、最近のITトレンドを牽引するIBM社のストリームシステム体系のプログラミングモデルや実装モデル、Streams This Symposium is intended to provide an up-to-date review of advances in recent development of Web and Wireless Geographical Information Systems (W2GIS). W2GIS 2012 is the 11th in a series of successful events alternating locations between East Asia and Europe. We invite submissions that address both theoretical and technical issues of W2GIS. Reports on implementations are particularly welcome. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to (as long as they address issues related to W2GIS): - GeoSpatial databases, spatial search, data mining - Mobile spatial interaction - GeoWeb search engines and services - GeoSocial Networks - Spatio-temporal Data Management - GeoSensor data acquisition, processing and analysis - Smart environments and ambient spatial intelligence - Exploratory cartography and interfaces - 3D modelling of cityscapes for LBS - LBS applications in both real-world and virtual spaces - Security, privacy, and usability - Cyber-geography & augmented reality - Semantic geospatial web - Intelligent Media structure, interaction, and distribution - Telematics and GIS applications - Ubiquitous and wireless GIS - Map personalization and adaptation - User studies and evaluations - Indoor and outdoor locationing, wayfinding, and navigation - Volunteered Geographic Information - Advanced GIS visualization techniques for Web and mobile applications Accepted papers will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science series. Each paper must be written in English, should be limited to 6000 words, and submitted in PDF format. Each paper must include a short abstract and a list of keywords indicating subject classification. Acceptance of a paper means an obligation for at least one of the authors to attend the conference and present the paper. A selection of best papers will be considered for a special issue of a journal publication.
