This ubiquitous intelligence (UI) will change the computing landscape because it will enable new breeds of applications and systems to be developed; the realm of computing possibilities will be significantly extended. By embedding digital intelligence in everyday objects, our workplaces, our homes and even ourselves, many tasks and processes could be simplified, made more efficient, safer and more enjoyable. Ubiquitous computing, or pervasive computing, composes these many "smart things/u-things" to create the environments that underpin the smart world. A smart thing can be endowed with different levels of intelligence, and may be context-aware, active, interactive, reactive, proactive, assistive, adaptive, automated, sentient, perceptual, cognitive, autonomic and/or thinking. Intelligent/smart things is an emerging research field covering many disciplines. A series of grand challenges exist to move from the world of ubiquitous computing with universal services of any means/place/time to the smart world of trustworthy services with the right means/place/time. UIC-07 is a successor of the 1st Int'l Workshop on Ubiquitous Smart Worlds (USW-05, Taipei, Mar. 2005), the 2nd Int'l Symposium on Ubiquitous Intelligence, Smart Worlds (UISW-05, Japan, Dec. 2005) and the 3rd Int'l Conference on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing (UIC-06, Three Gorges, China, Sept. 2006). It offers a forum for researchers to exchange ideas and experiences in developing intelligent/smart objects, environments, and systems as well as discuss various personal/social/physical issues faced by UI and smart worlds. For example, most of the E-commerce companies still use relational model for storing XML data. Since XML data on Web changes, and users are often not only interested in the current XML data but also in analyzing changes over a period of time to learn about the evolution of the Web. The change detection methods available currently mainly uses DOM tree-based comparison approaches, which are not scalable. Moreover, if XML data is conveted into relational model to store then XML data has to be mapped back to DOM tree before applying these existing techniques. In this talk, I introduce methods to detect changes in XML data after they are stored in relational model. The proposed methods uses SQL operations to detect changes such as move, insert, delete and updates between two versions of XML data stored in a relational database. These include scenarios where seamless access to a computing infrastructure is provided, scenarios where interaction and data sharing among mobile users occur in mobile ad hoc networks, and hybrid scenarios that combine these two. The continued miniaturization of computing devices along with improvements in the performance/price ratio enable new services and applications, e.g., in environmental monitoring and transportation. Although substantial research has been conducted, this area remains ripe with open research challenges, e.g., in relation to context-aware computing, such as location-based services or ubiquitous computing applications; mobile applications in hybrid networks; and consistency and data processing in sensor networks. The conference focuses on research contributions within data management in relation to mobile, wearable, and pervasive computing. The conference invites submissions within this area. 訃報：穂鷹良介DBSJ功労賞受賞者ご逝去
