論文募集：国際ワークショップBITIoT2014
by Akimitsu Kanzaki 24 Mar '14

24 Mar '14

============================================================= *** Call for Paper *** The 1st International Workshop on Big Data Management for the Internet of Things (BIGIoT2014) in Conjunction with IEEE COMPSAC 2014 (Vasteras, Sweden - July 21-25, 2014) ============================================================= * Theme of BIGIoT2014 Workshop A huge number of sensors, actuators and tags are getting networked these days. This leads to the "Internet of Things", and provides smart and intelligent services to human society. However, this now raises the next question; how should we use the "Big Data" associated to, or collected from, those things? They say that it potentially contains the seeds of services, profiles of social-phenoma, even social knowledge and intelligence. However, we have not yet found systematic solutions for managing them effectively, and we sometimes fail to extract valuable information from, or to provide advanced services with, the dataset. Thus, in this workshop, in order to discuss and discover better solutions, we welcome papers that explore service platforms (i.e., network systems, architectures, data models and algorithms) that effectively integrate "Internet of Things" and "Big Data". The workshop topics include, but are not limited to: - Large-scale monitoring platforms - Large-scale control platforms - Data analysis and data applications - Control schemes and decision making - Data models and algorithms - NoSQL data management - Service design and use cases - System architecture and implementation - Communication protocols - Distributed processing (overlays, Hadoop-based, etc.) - Privacy management and anonymization - Social embedding of applications - Application case studies - Performance, scalability, robustness We respect the works inspired by practical studies with real world interactions because this workshop wants to input the story of real social needs or industrial requirements into the discussion. We also welcome work-in-progress papers. * Workshop Organizers - Hideya OCHIAI (The Univ. of Tokyo, Japan) - Susumu TAKEUCHI (NTT, Japan) - Kurt Geihs (University of Kassel, Germany) * Program Committee - Adnan Al-Anbuky (AUT University, New Zealand) - Bheemarjuna Reddy Tamma (Indian Institute of Technology, India) - Christian Becker (University of Mannheim, Germany) - Frank Eliassen (University of Oslo, Norway) - Hiroshi Mineno (Shizuoka Univ., Japan) - Hiroyuki Inoue (Hiroshima City Univ., Japan) - Kazuyuki Shudo (Tokyo Institute of Techinology, Japan) - Keiichi Shima (Internet Initiative Japan., Japan) - Liu Xiaohan (Chinese Academy of Science, China) - Nearchos Paspallis (University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus) - Masahiro Ishiyama (Toshiba Corporate R&D Center, Japan) - Masato Yamanouchi (Keio Univ., Japan) - Masayuki Hirafuji (NARC and Univ. of Tsukuba, Japan) - P. Rajalakshmi (Indian Institute of Technology, India) - Romain Rouvoy (University Lille 1 and INRIA, France) - Sho Fujita (Yokogawa Corporation, Japan) - Takaaki Moriya (NTT Communications, Japan) - Tomoki Yoshihisa (Osaka Univ., Japan) - Tsutomu Terada (Kobe Univ., Japan) - Yuusuke Kawakita (The University of Electro Communications, Japan) * Important Dates Deadline for paper submission: March 23rd, 2014 Notification of acceptance: April 20th, 2014 Camera-ready due: April 28th, 2014 * Submission Papers must be submitted electronically via the BIGIoT 2014 Submission Page (TBD). The format of submitted papers should follow the guidelines for the IEEE conference proceedings. All papers will be carefully reviewed by at least three reviewers. Papers should be no more than 6 pages. Accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings of COMPSAC 2014, by the IEEE Computer Society Press. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper must register as a participant of the workshop and present the paper at the workshop, in order to have the paper published in the proceedings.

CFP: Workshop on Cross-media Analysis for Social Multimedia (CASM2014) with ICME2014
by Akisato Kimura 15 Jan '14

15 Jan '14

日本データベース学会の皆様， NTT　CS研　木村です．下記の通り，ICME2014併設のワークショップを企画致しております．投稿をご検討いただければ幸いです．よろしくお願い致します． -- Call for Papers 1st International Workshop on Cross-media Analysis from Social Multimedia (CASM), in conjunction with ICME2014, July 14, 2014, Chengdu, China. http://sites.google.com/site/casm2014ws/ http://twitter.com/casm2014/ Submission deadline: March 23, 2014 Author notification: April 9, 2014 Camera-ready submission deadline: April 16 We are entering the age of ubiquitous social multimedia. User-generated multimedia contents such as blogs, short messages, photos and location check-ins become so pervasive that it is now feasible to exploit them as sensors for real-world and web-world objects, events and memes. As such, new algorithms for analyzing unorganized user-generated contents have become one of the most active research areas in several research communities. Also, a recent phenomenon called content curation, such as Storify and Pinterest is now becoming an emerging trend in social media, which helps us to discover, analyze and retrieve underlying contexts of user-generated multimedia contents. However, the ability to deeply analyze and understand those unorganized contents on a single platform still remains inadequate, even with state-of-the-art multimedia processing and machine learning techniques. >From the above background, this workshop focuses on one of emerging but challenging researches topics, cross-media analysis of user-generated and unorganized social multimedia contents on multiple platforms. Those social media contents include rich privileged information such as geo locations, descriptions, user profiles, network and content diffusion that enable us to view and investigate one specific object, event or meme from various aspects. This workshop also serves for recent advances in harvesting and mining multimedia contents along with various types of privileged information. This workshop is devoted to the publications of high quality papers on innovative technical developments and practical applications related to cross-media analysis from social media, such as: - Real-world event detection, localization, tracking and understanding from social multimedia - Trend detection, diffusion modeling and anomaly detection of social multimedia - Context representation, modeling and understanding of multimedia contents with multiple privileged information from social media - Sentiment analysis, preference analysis, and user profiling from social multimedia - Content analysis, indexing, retrieval and harvesting of social multimedia - Multimedia content browsing, visualization and mining over multiple social media platforms - Mobile cross-media analysis, summarization, visualization and browsing - Transfer learning, semi-supervised learning and domain adaptation across multiple social media resources Authors are invited to submit a paper (two columns, 6 pages maximum) according to the guidelines available on the ICME2014 website. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. This workshop uses double-blind review process for all the regular submissions. Any papers violating double-blind regulations will be immediately rejected without reviews. Simultaneous submission to other conferences in the area of multimedia and related areas is not permitted. Simultaneous submission to journal publications of significantly extended versions of the paper is permitted, as long as the publication date of the journal is after the workshop date. Workshop organizers: Akisato Kimura, NTT Communication Science Laboratories, Japan Winston Hsu, National Taiwan University, Taiwan Shin'ichi Satoh, National Institute of Informatics, Japan Contact organizers at casm2014-org at googlegroups com -- ----- Akisato Kimura, Ph.D Recognition Research Group Media Information Laboratory NTT Communication Science Laboratories E-mail: akisato(a)ieee.org URL: http://www.brl.ntt.co.jp/people/akisato/ The effort may not be rewarded. 日本データベース学会の皆様京都大学のアダムヤトフトです。NTCIR-11 Temporaliaタスクのご案内です。ご興味の方は参加をご検討下さい。 ========================= CALL FOR TASK PARTICIPATION NTCIR-11 Temporal Information Access (Temporalia) Task https://sites.google.com/site/ntcirtemporalia/home http://ntcir.nii.ac.jp/Temporalia/NTCIR-11-Temporalia/ (Mirror) Registration: http://ntcir.nii.ac.jp/NTCIR11Regist/ Jan 20, 2014: registration due Mar 30, 2014: testing data for formal run released Jun 30, 2014: formal run submissions due Aug 1, 2014: evaluation results released Sep 1, 2014: participant draft papers due Nov 1, 2014: camera ready papers due Dec 9-12, 2014: NTCIR-11 conference @ NII, Tokyo, Japan ========================= === OVERVIEW === The objective of Temporalia is to foster research in temporal information access. Given the fact that time plays crucial role in estimating information relevance and validity we believe that successful search engines must consider temporal aspects of information in greater detail. We propose a challenge that establishes common grounds for designing and analyzing temporally-aware information access systems. We plan to focus on Information Retrieval first at NTCIR-11 with potential extension to other applications at NTCIR-12 (hence the task name). Temporal Information Retrieval has been gaining a lot of interest in IR and related research communities. It can be defined as a subset of document retrieval in which time plays crucial role in estimating document relevance. The objective of this task is to systematize various requirements in Temporal IR and offer a standardized challenge based on which competing systems can be compared and analyzed. Although many of temporal information needs seek for recent (fresh) information, a good proportion of them also search for information about past incidents as well as future incidents. Although there are several evaluation tasks that involve search and filtering over time (e.g., TDT, NTCIR GeoTime, TREC Temporal Summarization), there is no test collection to measure the performance of search applications across temporal information needs categories such as Past, Recent, and Future in a systematic way. === TASKS === Temporalia at NTCIR-11 will offer two subtasks to address temporal information access technologies as follows. Interested researchers and research groups can participate in either or both of the subtasks. - Temporal Query Intent Classification (TQIC) subtask TQIC subtask asks participants to classify a given query string to one of temporal classes: Past, Recency, Future, or Atemporal. Participants will receive a set of query strings and query submitting date, and develop a system to classify each of the query strings to one of temporal classes. Participants were allowed to use any external resources to complete the TQIC subtask as long as the detail of external resource usage is described in their report. This subtask does not require to index our document collection. You can see the example queries for each class here: https://sites.google.com/site/ntcirtemporalia/task-description - Temporal Information Retrieval (TIR) subtask TIR subtask asks participants to retrieve a set of documents from a provided document collection in response to a search topic that incorporates time factor. In addition to a typical search topic description (i.e., title, description, and sub topics), TIR search topic description will contain a query submitting date information to indicate the relationship between the query and searcher. This subtask requires to index the document collection. You can see the example search topics here: https://sites.google.com/site/ntcirtemporalia/task-description Training data for dry runs for both the tasks is expected to be released by Jan 30, 2014. Please note: Task participants must submit a paper for the NTCIR-11 meeting (unrefereed) and at least one member of participated groups must attend the meeting at NII, Tokyo in December 2014.
