皆様，来年4月に開かれる ICDE において，下記のように自律データベースシステムに関するワークショップを企画しております．締め切りが延長になりましたのでお知らせいたします． -- Takeshi FUKUDA, Ph.D. (福田剛志) Manager, Information Management Product Development, Yamato Software Laboratory (YSL), IBM Software Group =================================================================================== PLEASE NOTE: The paper submission deadline has been delayed until 1 Dec. 2006, to avoid conflict with the SIGMOD submission deadline. 2nd International Workshop on Self-Managing Database Systems (SMDB 2007) http://db.uwaterloo.ca/tcde-smdb/ 16 April 2007, Istanbul, Turkey Sponsored by the IEEE Data Engineering Workgroup on Self-Managing Databases http://db.uwaterloo.ca/tcde-smdb/ In conjunction with the 23rd International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE 2007) 16-20 April 2007 http://www.srdc.metu.edu.tr/webpage/icde/ Scope: Information management systems are growing rapidly in scale and complexity, while skilled database administrators are becoming rarer and more expensive. Increasingly, the total cost of ownership of information management systems is dominated by the cost of people, rather than hardware or software costs. This economic dynamic dictates that information systems of the future be more automated and simpler to use, with most administration tasks transparent to the user. The aim of this workshop is to exchange ideas related to autonomic or self-management of data in an intimate, informal, and interactive environment. The format of the workshop will be a one-day workshop after ICDE, in which accepted papers will be briefly presented in a single track and discussed by all participants. Workshop participants are encouraged to submit original research contributions or experience reports of previously unpublished work for presentation at the workshop, but participation in the workshop is not limited to those whose papers are accepted. Suggested main topics include, but are not limited to: * Fundamentals and principles of self-managing information systems * Architectures for self-managing information systems * Adaptive and autonomic query tuning * Self-diagnosing / -healing databases * Self-protecting databases * Automated provisioning of resources * Automated data integration * Autonomic enforcement of information quality * Self-managing distributed / decentralized / peer-to-peer information systems * Evaluation criteria and benchmarks for self-managing database systems * Policy automation for database administration * Data models for self-managing systems * Self-organizing databases * Automated discovery of data semantics * User acceptance and trust of autonomic features Submission Guidelines: Authors are invited to submit original research contributions in English in camera-ready format. The format of the electronic copy can be Postscript, Word, or PDF. Detailed formatting instructions and LaTeX macros are available on the IEEE Computer Society sites: * ftp://pubftp.computer.org/Press/Outgoing/proceedings/ 8.5x11%20-%20Formatting%20files Submissions for review are limited to six pages in the specified format. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Authors are required to submit papers to: https://msrcmt.research.microsoft.com/SMDB2007/ . Authors of accepted papers will be strongly encouraged to submit a full paper of at most 10 pages for final publication. All papers accepted by the workshop will appear in the formal Proceedings of the Conference Workshops published by IEEE CS Press, and thus will be included in the digital library of IEEE CS. Important Dates: Paper Submission*: December 1, 2006 Notification Date*: January 2, 2007 Camera-ready Due: January 12, 2007 * Note: All the deadlines are due midnight according to Pacific Standard Time (PST). Program Committee: Guy Lohman, Workshop Chair (IBM Almaden Research Center, USA) Anastassia Ailamaki (Carnegie Mellon Univ., USA) Philippe Bonnet (CIKU, Denmark) Surajit Chaudhuri (Microsoft Research, USA) Takeshi Fukuda (IBM Yamato Lab, Japan) Martin Kersten (CWI, The Netherlands) Sam Lightstone (IBM Toronto Software Lab, Canada) Pat Martin (Queen’s University, Canada) Ken Salem (University of Waterloo, Canada) Dennis Shasha (New York University, USA) Gerhard Weikum (Max-Planck-Institut fur Informatik, Germany) ===================================================================================
