This workshop (SeNTIE 2010) aims to provide a platform for discussing open issues, current challenges and solutions, as well as directions for future research on data processing and communication techniques of WSNs in the information-explosion era. Such information gives many people a framework for organizing their private and professional lives. However, in general, the quality control of Web content is insufficient due to low publishing barriers. In result there is a lot of mistaken or unreliable information on the Web that can have detrimental effects on users. This situation calls for technology that would facilitate judging the trustworthiness of content and the quality and accuracy of the information that users encounter on the Web. Such technology should be able to handle a wide range of tasks: extracting credible information related to a given topic, organizing this information, detecting its provenance, clarifying background, facts, and other related opinions and the distribution of them, and so on. ************Apologize if you receive multiple copies of this CFP************ Call for papers Second IEEE Workshop on Interdisciplinary Research on E-health Services and Systems IREHSS 2010 June 14, 2010 Montreal, QC Canada In the last few years advances in wearable computing, bioengineering, wireless sensors networks, mobile devices and wireless communications have paved the way to new definitions of e-health systems, moving from original telemedicine systems to the integration of existent specialized medical technologies with pervasive technologies. However, even more work on this area is needed to obtain significant results in improving the Quality of Life of patients and reducing medical errors and costs. First of all, a strict interaction and cooperation among medical specialists and ICT experts is necessary to define correct requirements fore-health systems. Then, in order to effectively design and deploy reliable E-health systems, a strong cooperation among several diverse research areas of ICT is necessary (i.e., bioengineering, wearable sensors, wireless communications, data fusion and processing, decision support systems and others). This is fundamental to make E-health systems a reality, satisfying main requirements of reliability and effectiveness both all the involved perspectives perspective. IREHSS aims to provide a forum for the interaction of experts belonging to these different research areas, from wearable computing and ubiquitous connectivity to context-awareness, sensor data fusion, artificial intelligence, expert systems, databases, security and privacy. The main objective is to provide a forum for the interaction of these multiple areas as an important chance to discuss and understand what aspects have to be considered to provide effective E-health systems. Authors are invited to submit papers presenting new research related to E-health, not published or currently under review for another workshop, conference, or journal. We encourage emphasizing lessons learned and providing a clear concise message to the audience about the relevance of the work. The paper must place your work in context within the field, citing related work and indicating clearly what aspects of the work are new. Research papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee to meet rigorous academic standards of publication. They should be written in English and must not exceed 10 pages (for full papers) or 4 pages (for short papers). Papers will be reviewed both with respect to conceptual quality and clarity of presentation. Authors of accepted papers are expected to attend the conference in order to present the paper. Students who are at least one year away from dissertation completion are invited to submit to the Doctoral Symposium. Students beginning their research are especially invited to attend. To submit a proposal send a 2-3 page description of your dissertation research, including: * A description of your work * The goals---what contributions will your research generate? * The approach---what is being performed to achieve the goals? How will results be validated? Additionally, your adviser must send a brief statement of your dissertation progress to date and a statement of recommendation to the Doctoral Symposium chair. WORKSHOPS Workshops provide an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to discuss and learn about topics that require extended engagement such as new systems, research methods, standards and formats. A workshop should require participants to engage with each other for at least half a day. For shorter sessions, please consider WikiSym's open space format. A workshop proposal should consist of approximately two pages describing what you intend to do and how your session will meet the criteria described above. It should include a concise abstract, proposed time frame (half-day, full-day) and one-paragraph biographies of all people relevant to the submission. Workshop proposals will be reviewed and selected for their interest to the community. Each workshop will be allocated a half-day or a full-day and a room. PANELS Panels provide an interactive forum for bringing together people with interesting points of view to discuss compelling wiki issues. Panels involve participation from both the panelists and audience members in a lively discussion. Proposals for panels should consist of approximately two pages describing what you intend to do and how your session will meet the criteria described above. It should include a concise abstract and one-paragraph biographies of all panelists. A panel submission will be reviewed and selected for their interest to the community. Each panel will be given a 90-minute time slot. POSTERS Poster presentations enable researchers to present late-breaking results, significant work in progress, or work that is best communicated in conversation. WikiSym's lively poster sessions let conference attendees exchange ideas one-on-one with authors, and let authors discuss their work in detail with those attendees most deeply interested in the topic. Poster proposals may describe original research, engineering, or experience reports. Submissions should consist of a two-page extended abstract outlining the content of the poster. Successful applicants will be invited to display a poster, 1x2m in size, at a special plenary session of the Symposium. DEMONSTRATIONS Wikis are intended to be used, and no format is better suited for demonstrating the utility of new wiki research and technology than showing and using it. If you would like to demonstrate new features or products, this is the place! Demonstrations give presenters an opportunity to show running systems and gather feedback. Demo submissions will be reviewed based on their relevance to the community. A submission should be one page in length, with a title and a short description of the demo. Along with the interaction between users and computers, social media are rapidly becoming an important part of our digital experience, ranging from digital textual information to diverse multimedia forms. These aspects and characteristics constitute of the core of second generation of Web. A prominent challenge lies in modeling and mining this vast pool of data to extract, represent and exploit meaningful knowledge and to leverage structures and dynamics of emerging social networks residing in the social media. Social networks and social media mining combines data mining with social computing as a promising direction and offers unique opportunities for developing novel algorithms and tools ranging from text and content mining to link mining. The 1st International Workshop on Social Networks and Social Media Mining on the Web in conjunction with DASFAA 2010 will bring together the academia, researchers and industrial practitioners from computer science, information systems, statistics, sociology, behavior science and organization science discipline, and provide a forum for recent advances in the field of social networks and social media, from the perspectives of data management and mining. We solicit original and high quality submissions addressing all aspects of this field. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following: * Computational models for social media * Query languages for social networks and social media * Query processing and optimization * Influence, trust, and privacy * Search in social networks and social media * Interoperability among social applications and social media * Techniques for social-network and social-media analysis/mining * Adversarial blogging and counter measures * Link analysis and network structure discovery * Community detection and evolution * Blog search and retrieval * Group interaction, collaboration, and recommendation * Knowledge discovery (collective wisdom, trend analysis, and topic detection) * Social aspects of Blogosphere * Human interface and interaction techniques for social media Submission Instruction: Authors are invited to submit electronically original, English-language research contributions not concurrently submitted elsewhere. All accepted papers will be published in a combined volume of Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series published by Springer in the form of conference post-proceedings. At the workshop site, informal on-site proceedings will be handed out as well. All submitted papers should be Springer LNCS camera-ready format. We employ the single blind review system (in which the authors don't know the reviewers, but the reviewers know the authors). The number of pages should not exceed 12 pages.
