PURPOSE
Database technology has been continuously challenged by demands from various
areas and applications and has evolved in parallel with advances in hardware
and computing techniques. New applications, issues, and emerging
technologies such as data warehousing and data mining, bioinformatics,
multimedia databases, object-oriented databases, trust management, and
security have compelled database researchers to revisit areas of data
modelling, query languages, storage, and internet compatibility. There has
also been increasing research in computational intelligence, distributed
computing, combining database technology, and software engineering. Areas of
particular interest include biomedicine, biotechnology, and new paradigms of
education.
DBA 2005 will be held in conjunction with the IASTED International
Conferences on:

LOCATION
As the capital of the Austrian region of Tyrol, Innsbruck is the only major
city in the European Alps and is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful
cities. As both a recreational and historical center, Innsbruck offers an
unrivalled combination of culture, history and natural beauty. Twice host to
the Olympic Winter Games, Innsbruck’s twenty-five Resort Villages blend in
perfectly with the alpine environment and offer world-class facilities for
skiing, tobogganing and snowboarding, as well as countless summer recreation
activities, amidst breathtaking landscapes. Although Innsbruck is a
sophisticated urban center, it has also maintained its historical flavour
and boasts an abudance of architectural and art treasures. The city also
hosts a multitude of international cultural and musical events throughout
the year.Innsbruck, with its unique blend of historical, intellectual and
recreational pursuits, offers something for every visitor. DBA 2005 will be
held at the world-famous Congress Innsbruck, located in the heart of the
city, near the historical quarter. This facility won the prestigious 'Best
Conference Center in Europe Award’ in 2000.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
Initial Papers
Submit your paper via our website at:
http://iasted.org/conferences/2005/Innsbruck/submit-454.htm. All submissions
should be in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Postscript (.ps), or MS Word (.doc)
format. The IASTED Secretariat must receive your paper by September 15,
2004. Receipt of paper submission will be confirmed by email.
Complete the online initial paper submission form designating an author who
will attend the conference and providing four key words to indicate the
subject area of your paper. One of the key words must be taken from the list
of topics provided under Scope. Initial paper submissions should be
approximately six pages. Formatting instructions are available at:
http://www.iasted.org/formatting-initial.htm.
Notification of acceptance will be sent via email by October 15, 2004. Final
manuscripts are due by November 20, 2004. Registration and final payment are
due by December 1, 2004. Late registration fees or paper submissions will
result in the papers being excluded from the conference proceedings.
Final Papers
Send your final manuscripts via email to: finalpapers(a)iasted.org. The
subject line for the final manuscript submission must include your six-digit
paper number. The formatting instructions can be found at:
http://www.iasted.org/formatting-final.htm and must be strictly followed.
The page limit for final papers is six single-spaced pages in 10 point Times
New Roman font. Only one paper of up to six pages is included in the regular
registration fee. There will be an added charge for extra pages and
additional papers.
TUTORIALS
Proposals for three-hour tutorials should be submitted online by September
15, 2004. Tutorials are to be submitted via the following website address:
http://iasted.org/conferences/2005/Innsbruck/tutorialsubmit-454.htm. A
tutorial proposal should clearly indicate the topic, background knowledge
expected of the participants, objectives, time allocations for the major
course topics, and the qualifications of the instructor(s).
SPECIAL SESSIONS
Persons wishing to organize a special session should submit a proposal via
email to: calgary(a)iasted.org. Proposals should include a session title, a
list of the topics covered, and the qualifications and brief biography of
the session organizer(s). Papers submitted to the special session must be
received by September 15, 2004, unless otherwise stipulated by the Special
Session Organizer. A minimum of five papers must be registered and fully
paid in order for this session to be included in the conference program.

JOURNALS
Extended versions of papers published in the conference proceedings can also
be considered for review for inclusion in one of the IASTED journals.
Authors must submit the expanded version of their conference paper for peer
review consideration to: http://www.actapress.com/journals/submission.htm
following the standard procedure as described on the website: www.actapress.
com. All papers considered for journal review must be of the highest quality
and demonstrate a novel contribution to the literature. For further

開催されます IEEE 主催の「ディペンダブルなシステムとネットワークに関す
る国際会議」 The International Conference on Dependable Systems and
Networks (DSN2005) の論文募集の案内をさせて頂きます。
DSN は、以前は The Annual International Symposium on Fault-Tolerant
Computing (FTCS) という名称で 2000 年開催の時点で 30回の開催を数えてい
ましたが、フォールトトレランスの概念を更にディペンダブルなシステムとネッ
トワークという形に広げて関連する話題を取り扱うという意味から DSN に引
き継がれ、更に活発な討論の場となっております。ディペンダビリティに関連
したデータベースの話題も当然含まれます。
今回は日本国内で開催されることから、電子情報通信学会のディペンダブルコ
ンピューティング研究専門委員会も主催に加わっております。国内外で「ディ
ペンダブルコンピューティング」関する関心が高まっている折、是非とも投稿
をご検討下さい。論文の締切りは2004年11月19日です。詳しくは、

DSN-2005 will be held in Yokohama, Japan, from June 28th to July 1st,
2005. The conference will have multiple main tracks of regular
papers as well as practical experience reports, software, system and
tool demonstrations, and panels on topics of current interest,
including the Dependable Computing and Communications Symposium
(DCCS) and the Performance and Dependability Symposium (PDS). There
will also be several Workshops, Tutorials, a Student Forum, Fast
Abstracts to emphasize late-breaking research. These activities
provide a comprehensive program for researchers, practitioners,
managers and students to learn and exchange information on the latest
research results and state of the art in dependable systems and
networks.
We invite you to contribute to this premier forum by submitting in
