第6回NTCIRワークショップ（NTCIR-6）成果報告会の参加案内を
お送りします。どなたでも参加することができます。

NTCIRは、情報アクセス技術の研究促進を目的として、研究に
必要不可欠な大規模かつ再利用可能な実験用データセットを
提供します。さらに、研究上のアイディアや妥当な評価方法
について議論できるフォーラムを提供します。具体的には、
複数の研究チームが共通の「研究課題（タスク）」を進める
ことで、協調と競争のバランスを保ちながら研究者コミュニティー
の発展を目指します。
今回のNTCIR-6では、以下のタスクを目的として、12の国と地域
から84の研究チームが参加しました。
・言語横断情報検索
・質問応答（日本語／言語横断）
・特許情報の検索と分類
・意見情報の分析
・動向情報の要約と可視化
成果報告会では、各チームの研究成果や、比較評価によって
得られた知見が発表されます。
初日には、情報アクセス技術評価に関する国際ワークショップ
（EVIA 2007）とチュートリアルが企画されています。
NTCIR-6の成果報告会に参加登録された方は、全ての企画に
参加することができます。
学生さんは無料で参加できます。
（ただし、無料参加の場合、予稿論文集のハードコピーは
つきません。オンライン予稿集は、成果報告会の初日から
Web上で閲覧可能となります）

The NTCIR-6 Workshop Meeting will be held on May 15-18, 2007,
at NII in Tokyo, Japan. Anybody who is interested in the
research that has been done in NTCIR is welcome to attend
and join the discussion.
This year, NTCIR-6 has hosted five tasks and one pilot workshop.
* Cross-lingual Information Retrieval
* Cross-lingual Question Answering
* Patent Retrieval and Classification
* Question Answering
* Opinion Analysis
* Multimodal Summarization and Trend Information (pilot workshop)
103 groups from 15 different countries and areas registered
and 84 groups from 12 different countries and areas submitted
their results. The overview and system papers will be presented
at the Meeting on DAY 2-4 (May 16-18).
The first day of the Meeting will be a Tutorial and
EVIA 2007 (the First International Workshop on Evaluating
Information Access).

The full registration fee for non-students includes
one copy of the proceedings, three lunches, three light
refreshments for breakfast, banquet, and coffee breaks.

Three light refreshments for breakfast and coffee breaks
will be served.
Students can also purchase the printed proceedings
and lunch/banquet tickets with a reasonable price.
Online proceedings will be available at the NTCIR Web
site during and after the Workshop Meeting.

2007 International Symposium on Ubiquitous Computing Systems (UCS 2007)

UCS 2007 workshops provide an opportunity to discuss and explore
emerging areas of research in ubiquitous computing systems with a group
of like-minded researchers and practitioners. Workshops may focus on any
aspect of ubiquitous computing systems, established concerns or new
ideas. The goal of the workshop is to share understandings and
experiences, to foster research communities, to learn from each other
and to envision future directions.
Workshops will be held on Monday, November 26, 2007. Opportunities will
be available for the outcome of workshops to be reported to the rest of
the UCS 2007 symposium through posters.
Workshop proposals should be no longer than 4 pages, and should include
a summary of no more than 150 words describing the theme(s) of the
workshop, a longer description of the workshop activities and goals, the
background of the organizer(s), the maximum number of participants, the
means of soliciting participation, and the means of selecting
participants.
Accepted workshops will be publicized via an announcement to the UCS
2007 distribution list 2 weeks after organizers are notified. Organizers
of accepted workshop proposals must notify prospective participants of
acceptance of position papers no later than September 30, and are
encouraged to establish position paper deadlines and timelines to
accommodate this constraint.
Abstracts of accepted Workshop proposals will be published in the
Conference Supplement that will be circulated to attendees at the
conference; they will not be incorporated into the main UCS 2007
Proceedings.
UCS 2007 requires electronic submission. Please email your proposal, as
