皆様阪大の神崎です。先日ご案内しましたユビキタス関連の国際ワークショップの投稿締め切りが延長となりました。CFPを改めてお送りいたしますので、是非ご投稿をご検討ください。 http://www.icta.ufl.edu/saint08/workshops/CFPaper/ws-cfp-7.html Workshop Paper Submission: March 12, 2008 Workshop Paper Notification: March 30, 2008 Workshop Final Manuscript: May 1, 2008 ----- The Fifth Workshop for Ubiquitous Networking and Enablers to Context-Aware Services in Conjunction with SAINT2008 Turku, FINLAND July 28 -- Aug. 1, 2008 Call for Papers Theme of the Workshop A "ubiquitous networking" is a federated network technology which supports various enablers such as 3G mobiles, RFID tags, sensors, actuators, etc. On the ubiquitous networking environments, information is explosively used for various kinds of purposes (information-explosion: http://www.infoplosion.nii.ac.jp/info-plosion/ctr.php/m/IndexEng/a/Index/) The ubiquitous network has enough capability to deal with huge number of IP packets generated from enablers. At the same time, a lot of broadband contents are requested to be delivered with perfectly controlled QoS. Efficient and scalable routing and transport mechanism for supporting such various traffics are fundamental requirement on the network. >From a service perspective, a number of context or ambient aware services are envisaged for "ubiquitous networking" in "information-explosion era." A service platform will manage and create services based on the context. There should be discussions how to collect and generate user context, how to create or synthesize services efficiently, and how to develop such systems using emerging software and hardware technologies. There could be also discussions how to control network performance based on user policy or service level agreement. Providing robust security over all ubiquitous networks in a simple fashion is an important issue associated with service provisioning to users. Keeping privacy in ubiquitous networks is also a big issue. The other important aspect is enablers or ubiquitous objects themselves where users are commonly faced with. What is a suitable design and implementation of such objects? How they could be connected to a ubiquitous network to provide contexts or how could they communicate with each other? This workshop is one of the best opportunities to address this theme in sufficient depth and breadth, and is intended to share knowledge and exchange ideas, thereby promoting new studies and research topics in this area. We invite not only academic and industrial researchers but also business persons, all who are interested in "ubiquitous networking" and "information explosion." Advancing technologies, reports on research, reports or suggestions on business models and so on are welcome. Important Dates for Authors Workshop Paper Submission: March 12, 2008 Workshop Paper Notification: March 30, 2008 Workshop Final Manuscript: May 1, 2008 Author Registration Due: TBD Workshop: July 28 -- Aug. 1, 2008 (exact date is TBD) Registration Workshop registration will be handled by the SAINT 2008 organization along with the main conference registration. It is the IEEE policy that accepted papers can be published only when IEEE recognized that at least one author has registered for presentation. So, authors will be requested to register along with the final manuscript. Paper Submission Papers should be sent to the Program Committee no later than March 1, 2008 via e-mail. After a review process by the Organizer and Program Committee of the Workshop, authors of accepted papers will be requested to send its final manuscript to IEEE-CS press no later than May 1, 2008. Motivation Although cryptography and security techniques have been around for quite some time, emerging technologies such as ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligence that exploit increasingly interconnected networks, mobility and personalization, put new requirements on security with respect to data management. As data is accessible anytime anywhere, according to these new concepts, it becomes much easier to get unauthorized data access. Furthermore, it becomes simpler to collect, store, and search personal information and endanger people’s privacy. Therefore, research in the area of secure data management is of growing importance, attracting attention of both the data management and security research communities. The interesting problems range from traditional ones such as, access control (with all variations, like dynamic, context-aware, role-based), database security (e.g. efficient database encryption schemes, search over encrypted data, etc.), privacy preserving data mining to controlled sharing of data. This year, we will continue with a tradition to have a special session devoted to secure data management in healthcare. Data security and privacy issue are traditionally important in the medical domain. However, recent developments and increasing deployment of IT in healthcare such as the introduction of electronic health records and extramural applications in the personal health care domain, pose new challenges towards the protection of medical data. In contrast to other domains, such as financial, which can absorb the cost of the abuse of the system, healthcare cannot. Once sensitive information about individual’s health problems is uncovered and social damage is done, there is no way to revoke the information or to restitute the individual. In addition to this, the medical field has some other specific characteristics, such as long-term value of medical data and flexibility with respect to, on one hand confidentiality, and on the other hand availability of medical data in the case of emergency. Aim The aim of the workshop is to bring together people from the security research community and data management research community in order to exchange ideas on the secure management of data. This year an additional special session will be organized with the focus on secure and private data management in healthcare. The workshop will provide forum for discussing practical experiences and theoretical research efforts that can help in solving the critical problems in secure data management. Authors from both academia and industry are invited to submit papers presenting novel research on the topics of interest (see below). However, its use in practice is not as widespread as one would have expected - as per Gartner around 80% of the data in enterprises today is unstructured which is not integrated with the structured data. The reason for this gap between theory and practice is that researchers have explored the generic algorithms required to handle the problem of information integration. Each domain, however, has its own unique set of requirements and challenges which severely restrict the integration of structured and unstructured data in practice. E.g., integrating contact center call audio with structured (transaction and profile) data in real time requires efficient techniques which are highly scalable (due to the huge customer profile data) and work on noisy transcribed data; integrating customer emails with customer profile information require techniques which work in the presence of partial user information (present in the e! mail); whereas certain domains require information integration techniques to be aware of the users' access rights and perform integration in an event based manner. Such requirements lead to the development of new algorithms and approaches for doing information integration across structured and unstructured data. These new approaches will govern the success of information integration in practice as they are motivated on real problems. The aim of this workshop is to encourage researchers in the information integration community to present novel issues and techniques related to applying information integration in different areas (especially in the context of integrating structured and unstructured data). The workshop will serve to present new ideas to researchers which would help drive the research in information integration from being "generic" to being more focused and realistic. We invite papers from researchers and practitioners working in information integration, data warehousing, active databases, privacy and trustworthy data systems and related areas to submit their original papers in this workshop. All submitted papers will be peer reviewed and evaluated on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of expression. By submitting a paper, authors explicitly agree that at least one of them will register for the workshop and present the paper.
