Call for Book Chapters:
The amount and value of information available due to rapid spread of
computers and information technology is exploding. Typical large
enterprises have approximately a petabyte of operational data stored
in hundreds of data repositories supporting thousands of applications.
Data storage volumes grow in excess of 50% annually. This growth is
expected to continue due to vast proliferation of Web based systems
and the introduction of new sources of data. Wireless Sensor Networks
(WSNs) represent one of the most notable examples of such new data
sources. In recent few years, various types of WSNs have been
deployed and the amount of information generated by wireless sensors
increases rapidly. The information explosion requires establishing
novel data processing and communication techniques for WSNs.
This volume aims to cover both theoretical and practical aspects of
related to this challenge, as well as to explore directions for future
research enabling efficient utilization of WSNs in the
information-explosion era.

- Semantic descriptions of sensors and sensor data
- Sharing, annotation, and (distributed) management of sensor data
- Data mining and warehousing in WSNs
Submission Procedure for Authors:
Prospective authors are invited to submit their chapter proposals on
or before April 30, 2009. A proposal should be 2-4 page manuscript
(extended abstract) clearly describing the objectives, scope of
contents, and organization of the proposed chapter. Send soft copies
by email to hara(a)ist.osaka-u.ac.jp.
Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by May 30, 2009, and
will be provided with guidelines for writing their full chapters
(7,000 - 10,000 words). The submission due of full chapters will be
June 30, 2009. All submitted chapters will be reviewed by the editors
of this volume.
The volume is schedule to be published by Springger-Verlag in
2009/2010.

- Submission of (revised) full chapter: June 30, 2009

BACKGROUND:
XML has evolved as the new standard for the representation and exchange of both structured and semistructured data. XML´s ability to succinctly describe complex information can also be used for specifying application meta-data. Since its inception eleven years ago, XML´s popularity is evident from its use in a wide spectrum of application domains: from document publication, to computational chemistry, health care and life sciences, multimedia and e-commerce. Increasing popularity of web-based business and the emergence of web services that use XML-based descriptions in WSDL and exchange XML messages with SOAP have led to further acceptance of XML.
XANTEC 2009 invites original research contributions as well as reports on prototype systems related to all aspects of XML data management tools and techniques. Like the earlier editions of the XANTEC workshop series, XANTEC 2009 will be held just during DEXA conference in Linz, Austria. One of the key objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers in this area who can share their views under this workshop.

PAPER SUBMISSION:
The full paper submission is limited to 5 pages in length (IEEE ICDE Format). Simultaneous submission to another conference/workshop/journal is not allowed. Authors are invited to submit papers in the following tracks:
Research Track: High quality papers describing original research contributions relevant to the open list of topics sketched above. We strongly welcome innovative, non-traditional, "early stage" techniques related to XML data management. Research papers must be original and have not been published or under consideration for publications elsewhere.
Prototype Track: Papers should focus on prototype description in the area of XML data management, showing new technological advances in applying innovative data management/processing techniques in the context of XML. The selection criteria for the prototype papers include: the novelty, the technical advances and challenges, and the overall practical attractiveness of the prototype system. The authors of accepted papers must demonstrate the prototype during their presentation in the workshop.
Papers will be reviewed by at least 3 program committee members. Submissions to the research and prototype tracks are made through the submission site at www.dexa.org
