DEIMの魅力梅村恭司豊橋技術科学大学 ======================================================================= ------------------- ●DEIM2013 開催報告 ------------------- 電子情報通信学会第5回データ工学と情報マネジメントに関するフォーラム／第11回日本データベース学会年次大会(DEIM2013) 日時：2013年3月3日〜5日場所：福島県郡山市磐梯熱海ホテル華の湯 URL： http://db-event.jpn.org/deim2013/ 主催：電子情報通信学会データ工学研究専門委員会日本データベース学会情報処理学会データベースシステム研究会協賛： ARG「Webインテリジェンスとインタラクション」研究会筑波大学知的コミュニティ基盤研究センター 2012年3月3日から5日の三日間，福島県郡山市のホテル華の湯において， DEIM2013が開催されました．3日間の参加者は492名となり，データ工学および情報マネジメントに関心を持つアクティビティの高い，研究者，先進技術者，学生が一堂に会するイベントとなりました．本コミュニティにおけるDEIMの重要性を考慮し,当初から「持続可能な仕組みの構築」「交流の促進」「皆が参加して楽しいイベント」を三つの目標として DEIM2013の準備に取り組んできました．例年，卒業シーズンを控え，学生，若手研究者が数多く発表することから， DEIM2013では昨年同様に，若手研究者の研究奨励を目的とした博士学生・ポスドクセッション(PhDセッション)を設けました．2泊3日の間に，口頭発表セッション62（一般発表　268件，PhDセッション発表 32件），インタラクティブセッション2(発表174件，内デモ有り73件)，特別セッション3，ナイトセッション3という盛りだくさんな発表が行われ，今回も大変充実した内容になりました．今回は開催場所が福島県ということもあり，招待講演セッション「残す．伝える．未来のために」を開催し，震災の教訓を未来に伝える事をテーマに，「ＮＨＫ東日本大震災アーカイブスのこころみ」「国立国会図書館と震災 - NDL東日本大震災アーカイブの取り組みを中心に」「福島で考えること−震災と原発-」という大変興味深い3つの講演をいただきました．加えて，「クラウドソーシング」においてはクラウドソーシングのアクセシビリティ応用に関する講演に加え，実際のサービス紹介，この分野で活躍する研究者によるパネルを企画し，クラウドソーシング領域の実践と研究の最前線で何が起こっているのかを議論しました．また，「ライジングスター2013」では，ご活躍の若手研究者から4名を招聘し，研究内容の紹介だけでなく，研究に対する取り組み方などについても大変興味深い話を聞くことが出来ました．ナイトセッションとしては，「生活者行動を中心としたビッグデータの可能性− リクルートグループが考える新たな産学連携の形」「企業人が語る! 研究開発環境最前線」「みんなで一晩で一からCIKM2013の論文を書き上げる会」の3つを行い，どのセッションも夜遅くまで盛り上がりを見せました． DEIM2013の最終日には、平成２４年度日本データベース学会特別功労賞，上林奨励賞授賞式が行われ、日本データベース学会特別功労賞を増永良文氏(青山学院大学)，日本データベース学会上林奨励賞を佐久間淳氏（筑波大学）および藤原靖宏氏 (日本電信電話株式会社)が受賞されました。引き続き，増永先生による受賞記念講演「日本データベース学会10年の歩み」が行われ，ご自身の足跡をご紹介いただくと共に，日本データベース学会がここまで発展するまでのご苦労と，今後に向けてのエール等，ユーモアを交えながらも含蓄のあるお話を伺うことができました．スライドはご厚意によりDEIM2013サイトに公開させていただきましたので是非ご覧下さい．このように，DEIM2013は大変充実した実りあるイベントとなりました．ご尽力いただきました実行委員，プログラム委員，コメンテータ，そして参加者の皆様にあらためて御礼申し上げます．（森嶋厚行 DEIM2013プログラム委員長筑波大学図書館情報メディア系教授） ====================================================================== ----------------------------------------- ● DEIM2013「ライジングスター」に参加して ----------------------------------------- 参加したいと思いつつも，タイミングが合わずなかなか参加する機会のなかった DEIMに参加することができたのは今年のDEIM2013が初めてでした．非常に楽しく有益であり，そして学生最後の学会発表を飾る素晴らしい3日間となりました．今回は通常の研究発表セッションにて1件，PhD招待セッションにて1件の計2件も口頭発表させていただいたのですが，どちらの発表においても多くの先生方から有難いコメントを頂戴し，短いながらも貴重な時間を過ごすことができました．さらに，研究内容を発表・聴講するだけではなく，企業の研究者の方のお話，クラウドソーシングについての興味深いお話，国際会議の執筆への取組み，夜の飲み会などとDEIM2013では盛り沢山の企画が開催されており，自身の今後の展望について考えたり，幅広い人脈を作るに当たり，有益な場であると感じました．そんな素晴らしい企画のうちの1つである招待PhDセッション「ライジングスター 2013」でお話する機会をいただくことができ，非常に光栄に思っています．お話をいただいた際には，「本当に私でよいのか？！もっといい人いるだろう！」という恐縮・困惑，「そんな素晴らしい場に呼んでいただけるなんて！！」という歓喜の気持ちで一杯でした．話す内容については，これまでの研究内容とアドバイスやメッセージということだったのですが，通常の研究発表以外の招待発表という形で発表を行うのは初めてだったため，何を話せば良いのか非常に非常に悩みました．結局，ちょうど博士論文を出し公聴会を終え，学生生活最後の発表であったので，私なりに博士後期課程を過ごす中で考えたことについて，やって良かったことも後悔したことも含めて本音のメッセージとして発表させていただきました．発表後の懇親会では，学生さんを含めた多くの方々から「おもしろかったです！」「私も頑張ろうと思います！」という感想をいただくことができ，感激でした．微力ながらも，若い学生さん達のお役に立てたのであれば，これほど嬉しいことはありません．今後もDEIMでは，ぜひとも若い世代に繋がるような企画を開催してほしいと思います．これまでは，多忙な中でも丁寧に指導してくださった先生方，インターンシップ先で親身になって協力してくださった研究者の方々のおかげで，このような素晴らしい機会を得ることができました．今後は，そのような方々に恩返しする意味でも，ライジングスターと呼ばれるに相応しい研究者となれるように日々精進しなければならないと強く思っております．今回のPhD招待セッションでの経験は，自分の中で改めてそのような決意をすることができる貴重な機会となりました．最後に私事になりますが，2013年3月に博士後期課程を修了し，4月にKDDI株式会社に入社いたしました．今後しばらくは，企業の研究者として，DEIMを始めとした学会，アカデミックな取り組みに関わることができればと考えています．今後とも，日本データベース学会のますますのご発展を心よりお祈り申し上げます．（岩田麻佑大阪大学博士後期課程現在はKDDI株式会社勤務） ====================================================================== --------------------------- ● DEIM2013に始めて参加して --------------------------- 私は，今回初めてDEIMに参加いたしました．データ工学と情報マネジメントに関する様々な発表があるDEIMは，普段私が触れないような分野の研究テーマについて聞くことができ，自分自身に対して良い刺激になればと期待していました．実際，自分とは全く違う分野のセッションにも参加する事ができ，これからの研究に役立ちそうなことが聞けました．また，私は口頭発表の場では質問の内容がまとまらずに質問できないことが多いのですが，DEIMでは口頭発表された方の多くがポスター発表もされているので，研究の動機や手法の詳細まで詳しく聞くことができたのは大変良かったです．口頭発表・ポスター発表ともに，それぞれの発表者は，如何に自分の研究を分かりやすく伝えるかに工夫を凝らしていて，これからの自分の発表の参考にしたい発表・ポスターに触れることができ，期待以上の収穫がありました．私が発表した内容は，現在取り組んでいる修士論文の一部でした．研究内容を充実するための意見等を頂けることを期待し，プレゼン資料とポスターを用意して発表に備えました．口頭発表時に，座長やコメンテータの方々からいただいた質問・コメントには自分では気付かなかった課題も多く，これからの研究をより充実したものできるとの実感を得ることができました．ポスター発表は今回初めての経験であったため，指導教官の先生や研究室の先輩のアドバイスのもとにポスターを制作し，我ながら良いポスターが仕上がったと思っていました．しかし，ポスターの前でインタラクティブに説明するのは，口頭発表とは違った説明の工夫が求められ，分かりやすい説明とはほど遠い結果となってしまいました．つたない説明にもかかわらず訪れて下さった方々には議論をしていただき，口頭発表とは違った幅広い角度からのご指摘を受け実り多いポスター発表となりました． DEIM2013は，自分の視野を広げ，研究の発展につながるご意見をいただくことができた，期待を大きく越える3日間でした．このような機会を与えてくださった皆さまに感謝致します． (長谷川数馬筑波大学博士前期課程在学) ====================================================================== ------------- ● DEIMの魅力 ------------- DEIMは参加して楽しい学会ですが，なぜだろうと考えてみました．自動車という機械に比喩をもとめて，考えを述べてみたいと思います．自動車は移動手段を提供する機械であり，免許をとって初めて運転したときに自由に好きなところに行けて楽しかったことを思い出します．若いときは自動車の加速性能などに興味をもったこともありますが，永くつきあっていると，結局はどこにどのように行くかという自分の利用の形態に合致したものを求め、実際に移動に使い，気持ちよく移動できることが楽しさの源であると思い至りました．コンピュータの性質とそれを使う人間の形態とをつなぐ技術が『データの扱い』という技術です．コンピュータは，データを扱う機械であります．若いときは高速なコンピュータに出会ったときの高揚感で夢中になったこともありますが，永くつきあっているうちに，結局は自分がコンピュータを利用する形態に合致したものを求めております．そして，その形態というのはネットワークの発展にともなって，データを蓄積し，整理し，分析することの比重が大きくなっていることに気付きます．私にとってのDEIMの魅力はいろいろありますが，若い頃からコンピュータに関わってきた結果として，『データの扱い』というDEIMの分野が自分の中で比重が大きくなっている，このことによって魅力を感じているのであろうと思います．会議の運営が素晴らしいことも魅力の一つですが，なにより自分が求めるところ，つまり『データの扱い』を対象領域として扱っていることが大きな魅力となっています．最終的には自分と同じように感じて欲しいので，縁のある若い人にも参加してほしいと自分が希望するのだと思います．また，そのように思える若者がいるからこそ，若い人もDEIMに参加するのでありましょう．益々の発展を祈念すると共に，これからも永くつきあっていきたいと思います．（梅村恭司豊橋技術科学大学情報・知能工学系教授） ======================================================================

There are various research directions in the relations between culture and computing: to archive cultural heritages via ICT (cf. digital archives), to empower humanities researches via ICT (cf. digital humanities), to create art and expressions via ICT (cf. media art), to realize a culturally situated agent (cf. cultural agent), to support multi-language, multi-cultural societies via ICT (cf. intercultural collaboration), and to understand new cultures born in the Internet and Web (cf. net culture). The International Conference on Culture and Computing provides an opportunity to share research issues and discuss the future of culture and computing, which has been held in cultural cities including Kyoto, Japan (2010, 2011) and Hangzhou, China (2012).
