Apologies for crossposting ====================================================================== CALL FOR PAPERS IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing (TETC) Special Issue on Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing (TETC) is seeking original manuscripts for Special Issue on Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), scheduled to be published in the January ? June 2013 issue. The coordination and tight link between computational, virtual and physical resources will drive the potential of having a pervasive effect in the citizens everyday life, satisfying various needs and also creating new opportunities for the introduction of services that will enhance the quality of life of the society as a whole. Research advances in cyber-physical systems promise to transform our world with systems that will far exceed those of today in terms of: effectiveness, adaptability, autonomicity, energy efficiency, precision, reliability, safety, usability, scalability, stability and user-centric applicability. Moreover, recently the Sensor Web concept came into foreground, aiming at combining distributed sensing with the ubiquitous connectivity and accessibility of the web, therefore facilitating the close interaction of digital world with physical world. Cyber-physical systems find direct applicability in a wide range of areas and disciplines, including for instance (but not limited to): a) Smart Grid technologies: that aim at facilitating a reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to consumers using digital communications and security technologies, and intelligent monitoring and control of the delivery network and electricity consumption b) Wireless sensing, monitoring and networking: to enable distributed monitoring systems of numerous smart sensors and actuators, mobile devices, RFIDs, (ground, aerial, aquatic) robots etc., which revolutionize a variety of application areas with unprecedented density, fidelity, and scalability of environment instrumentation; c) Vehicular cyber-physical and intelligent transportation systems: that integrate computing, communication, and storage capabilities with monitoring and control of vehicles in the physical world to deal with the grand challenges of safe, green, and efficient transportation; d) Smart Living technologies: smart city (e.g. increasing security, comfort and convenience, green energy), intelligent park and space, healthcare systems. Ambient intelligence, context-awareness, data mining, embedded system and software, evolutionary computation, modeling environments and human behavior, social networks, big data, security, privacy and trust, ubiquitous computing and other technologies and methodologies applied in CPS are also welcome. Towards merging the information-centric character and node-centric physical world connectivity, well-defined analytical models, methodologies and experimental validations are required of how to build such systems capable of coping with the entire chain of operations and orchestrating the various parts together in a flexible, efficient and economic way. Apologies for crossposting -------------------- CALL FOR PAPERS ----------------- The 3rd IEEE International Workshop of Smart Communication Protocols and Algorithms (SCPA 2013) June 9-13, 2013, Budapest, HUNGARY In conjunction with IEEE ICC 2013 http://scpa.it.ubi.pt/2013/ Selected papers will be invited to the Special Issue on Smart Protocols and Algorithms of the International Journal Network Protocols and Algorithms (ISSN 1943-3581) or to the Special Issue on Recent Patents on Telecommunications Journal ((Online)ISSN 2211-7415, (Print) ISSN 2211-7407) Communication protocols and algorithms are needed to communicate network devices and exchange data between them. The appearance of new technologies usually comes with a protocol procedure and communication rules that allows data communication while taking profit of this new technology. Recent advances in hardware and communication mediums allow proposing new rules, conventions and data structures which could be used by network devices to communicate across the network. Moreover, devices with higher processing capacity let us include more complex algorithms that can be used by the network device to enhance the communication procedure. Smart communication protocols and algorithms make use of several methods and techniques (such as machine learning techniques, decision making techniques, knowledge representation, network management, network optimization, problem solution techniques, and so on), to communicate the network devices to transfer data between them. They can be used to perceive the network conditions, or the user behavior, in order to dynamically plan, adapt, decide, take the appropriate actions, and learn from the consequences of its actions. The algorithms can make use of the information gathered from the protocol in order to sense the environment, plan actions according to the input, take consciousness of what is happening in the environment, and take the appropriate decisions using a reasoning engine. Goals such as decide which scenario fits best its end-to-end purpose, or environment prediction, can be achieved with smart protocols and algorithms. Moreover, they could learn from the past and ! use this knowledge to improve futur e decisions. In this workshop, researchers are encouraged to submit papers focused on the design, development, analysis or optimization of smart communication protocols or algorithms at any communication layer. Algorithms and protocols based on artificial intelligence techniques for network management, network monitoring, quality of service enhancement, performance optimization and network secure are included in the workshop. We welcome technical papers presenting analytical research, simulations, practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, and papers addressing the key problems and solutions. The topics suggested by the conference can be discussed in term of concepts, state of the art, standards, deployments, implementations, running experiments and applications. Apologies for cross-posting *****CALL FOR PAPERS***** 1ST IEEE WORKSHOP ON ELECTRIC VEHICLE NETWORKS FOR SMART GRID APPLICATIONS (EVN-SGA 2013) June 2, 2013, Dresden, Germany In conjuntion with 2013 IEEE 77th Vehicular Technology Conference: VTC2013-Spring Workshop website: http://www.nprg.ncsu.edu/evn-sga/ The number of electric and hybrid vehicles on the road is increasing at a fast pace. These vehicles require frequent charging, thus straining the power grid that needs to adapt to these extra loads. A smart grid needs to be able to accommodate seamlessly the extra power demand generated by such vehicles. Hence, there is a pressing need to develop novel vehicular protocols and communication networks to provide information regarding the placement of closest charging stations to the vehicles, availability of charging slots and other services offered in real time. Further, they can be employed for vehicle monitoring, for providing data for detailed usage analysis, remote management, as well as to improve reliability, and even to help decide whether vehicles should be charged at on- or off-peak times. To accomplish these tasks and in addition to monitor dynamic pricing, offer flexible billing smart devices need to be developed and integrated in the network. On the supply side, operators should optimize grid operations and offer energy efficiency programs to reduce consumption and help smooth demand. Smart grid technology would enable utility companies to efficiently manage large number of electric vehicles; such technologies would integrate sensors, advanced meters, smart transformers, automatic energy distribution, load monitoring, and intelligent energy management to minimize operational problems and maximize efficiency of the power grid Finally, there is need for infrastructure that would provide up to date maps of locations and services of charging stations, or for battery switching and swapping. For electric vehicles to become a viable large scale transportation option, a reliable, ubiquitous recharging network is needed and the associated information, communications and control infrastructure needs to be developed. The 1st IEEE Workshop on Electric Vehicle Networks for Smart Grid Applications (EVN-SGA 2013) will serve as a forum for researchers from industry and academia, standard developers, professionals, policy makers and practitioners to share their state-of-the-art research and development results. The purpose of the workshop is to foster discussion on emerging and novel approaches to integrate electric vehicles within the future smart grid, from all angles of views, including researchers, developers, manufacturers, policy regulators, funding bodies. Attendees will be able to gain a clear picture on the current status, the future and opportnuities in the field of electric vehicles and to interact with the highest experts all over the world on the subject. We welcome technical papers presenting research and practical results, techniques and applications, best practices, awareness and experiences as well as future trends and needs, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, such as those being discussed in the standard forums or in industry consortia. 矢本光一, 山田和明(東洋大学) 17:45-18:05 表彰式・クロージング ------------ ◇特別企画(招待講演)：「Webインテリジェンスとインタラクション研究の未来」 ------------ 司会：土方嘉徳（大阪大学）企画概要：新たにWebインテリジェンスとインタラクション研究会をスタートさせるにあたり，今後，同分野の研究にどのような展開が期待されるのか，どのように産業界に影響を与えるのかを考えてみたい．そこで第1回WI2研究会では，当研究会の主要な研究分野において，運営委員の5名により，その分野がどのように発展しそうか，次のトレンドは何か？，自分はどういうスタンスで研究していくつもりなのか，などについて語ることとする．主要な分野として，当研究会でもおなじみの，情報推薦，情報可視化，セマンティックWeb，インターネットセキュリティ，自然言語処理を挙げた．もちろん当研究会の扱う分野はこの5つに限らないが，時間の関係上，まずはこの5つの分野について今後の展開について方向性を示すこととした．研究会を立ち上げるに当たっては，トレンドを追うことも重要だが，我々がそれを生み出すことも大事である．本講演が，WI2研究会の参加者にとって，各分野のトレンドの形成に役立てば幸いである．特別講演題目と概要：１．Human-Recommender Interaction 土方嘉徳（大阪大学）情報推薦（推薦システム）の研究分野では，アルゴリズムや推薦方式の研究が中心となり，推薦の正確さを指標とした評価が行われてきた．このような研究のアプローチが主流となったのは，評価用データセットの整備が一因として挙げられる．しかし，実際に利用するユーザにとっては，推薦結果のみでなくそれを獲得するに至ったプロセスも重要である．ユーザプロファイル作成に必要な情報の提供方法，推薦のタイミング，その提示方法などが，ユーザ経験の質に影響を与えると思われるからである．このような推薦システム−人間系についての研究は，まだ十分に行われていない．本講演では，これまでの情報推薦の研究におけるトレンドの流れを説明したのち，最近の推薦システムにおけるヒューマンインタラクションの研究事例を取り上げ，今後のトレンドを示すことにする．２．情報可視化によるテキストストリームデータのモニタリング支援高間康史（首都大学東京） TwitterやSNSなどのソーシャルメディアやオンラインニュースなど，日々新しい情報が発生するテキストストリームデータは，Web上の主要リソースとなっており，これらを有効活用する技術が求められている．一方，情報可視化システムがこれまで主に対象としてきたタスクはプレゼンテーションおよび情報アクセス・分析支援であり，前者はstorytelling，後者はユーザの探索的行為の支援が主な目的であった．しかし，テキストストリームデータの活用を考えた場合，定期的に情報を確認するモニタリングタスクを支援することが必要であり，情報可視化システムの新たな応用として興味深い対象と考える．本発表では，テキストストリームデータのモニタリングタスクの概要，解決すべき課題について述べると共に，peripheral displayなどの関連研究についても紹介する．３．セマンティックウェブの次のステップ：オープンデータと知的処理大向一輝（国立情報学研究所）セマンティックウェブ技術に基づいて多様な情報源のデータ連携を実現するLinked Open Data（LOD）は，標準化やRDFストアの開発が進んだことで実用段階に入った．すでに学術情報や政府・地方自治体などの公共情報の提供手段として用いられており，さらなる普及が期待できる．LODでは情報に対するグローバルな識別子としてHTTP URIが必須となるが，維持管理や異なる情報源における同一性の判別が大きな課題である．本講演ではLODの概要や実サービスでの利用・提供経験から得られた知見について述べるとともに，識別子をワークフロー，機械処理ならびにユーザ参加の3種のアプローチによって管理する手法の提案を行う．４．研究成果の実用化に向けたセキュリティ・プライバシー保護技術の課題井口誠（Kii 株式会社） Web インテリジェンス・インタラクション分野における研究成果を実用化する際，セキュリティ・プライバシー保護への配慮は必要不可欠である．例えばユーザの嗜好や行動を解析し，ユーザのニーズにあった情報推薦を行う技術を実際のサービスに適用する場合，単に推薦の精度を高めるだけではなく，推薦システムのセキュリティやユーザのプライバシーを保護するという課題を同時に解決する必要がある．これは，現実世界ではすべてのプレイヤー（ユーザおよび情報解析者）が公平にふるまうという仮定が成立しないためである．本講演では，Web インテリジェンス・インタラクション技術を実用化するにあたり検討すべきセキュリティ・プライバシー面での課題について議論すると共に，これら課題への対抗策に関する最新動向を紹介する．５．CGMテキストを対象とした自然言語処理: 今後の展望と課題鍜治伸裕（東京大学）アブストラクト：CGMの出現によって，人々の行動や思考内容がテキストデータとして大量に発信，蓄積される時代が到来した．その結果，例えば評判分析など，テキストデータの解析を通して社会の動向を分析することに対する期待が高まっている．こうした背景から，近年の自然言語処理において，CGMテキストは研究の潮流を形成する軸の一つとなりつつある．すなわち，CGMテキスト解析に対する社会的なニーズの高まりを受けて，新しい課題が研究者に認識され，それに対する解析技術が進展するというサイクルを見ることができる．こうした現状を踏まえて，本講演では，CGMテキストが自然言語処理にどのような影響を与えてきたのか，そして，自然言語処理がCGMテキストと関わっていく中で，今後どのように発展すべきかについて議論を行う． ------------------------ ◇参加費と事前登録の案内 ------------------------ 1. プロシーディングス・参加費・プロシーディングス 3,000円（参加者は全員購入．但し発表を伴わない聴講のみの学生は購入義務は任意）・参加費事前登録時: 一般 2,000円, 学生 1,000円当日受付: 一般 3,000円, 学生 2,000円 (但し発表を伴わない聴講のみの学生は無料） ※学生：社会人ドクターは除く． 2. 事前登録 (12月7日(金)〆切) 事前登録を行うことで，参加費1,000円割引となります．できる限り事前登録をお願いします．当日、席数には限りがございます．定員に達しましたら事前受付を終了いたしますので，お早目のご登録をお願い致します．また，当研究会では懇親会も企画（詳細は下記項目参照）いたしております．懇親会へのご出欠も併せてお知らせください．こちらも会場の都合により，定員がございます．定員になり次第締め切りとさせていただきますので，ご了承ください．当研究会は，研究会からの案内をお送りするメーリングリストを開設しております．登録ご希望の方は，併せてお申し込みください．注) 旧WI2研究会のメーリングリストに入っておられた方も，新たに登録する必要があります．メーリングリストへの登録は，第1回WI2研究会終了後になります．メーリングリストの本格運用も，第1回WI2研究会終了後になります．事前登録の期限は 12月7日(金)までとなっております．それまでに下記の事前参加登録ページよりご登録下さい。 ------------------------------- 事前参加登録ページ: http://www.sigwi2.org/register/ ------------------------------- -------- ◇懇親会 -------- 1日目の研究会終了後，大珍樓(本館)にて懇親会を予定いたしております．本格的な中華料理をお楽しみいただく予定です．日時は以下のようになります．会費は一般 5,000円，学生 2,500円の予定です。会場の座席数の関係上，定員になり次第締め切らせて頂きますので，お早めに申し込みください．日時: 2012年12月14日(金) 19:30-21:30 (開始時刻には，若干の変更がある場合がございます) 場所: 大珍樓(本館) 会費: 一般 5,000円，学生 2,500円 ※学生：社会人ドクターは除く． ---------------- ◇お問い合わせ先 ---------------- 加藤文彦, (共)情報・システム研究機構 mail: fumi(a)nii.ac.jp 主催 ARG Webインテリジェンスとインタラクション研究会 http://www.sigwi2.org -- ======================================== 土方嘉徳（准教授）大阪大学大学院基礎工学研究科 MAIL：hijikata(a)sys.es.osaka-u.ac.jp TEL：06-6850-6381 FAX：06-6850-6341 ========================================
