をピックアップしました．両方とも関係データベースで XML デー
タを高速に検索するための structural join に関係した論文です．
会議報告では，structural join がここ数年注目されるようになっ

2003年3月5日より8日まで，バンガロール(インド)にて "19th International
Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE 2003)" が開催され最新の研究成果が

"Reinforcement clustering of multi-type interrelated data objects"
Prof. Lu Hongjun(Hong Kong University)
In this talk, we present a novel clustering approach for clustering
multi-type interrelated data objects, such as Web pages and Web users.
Under
this approach, relationships among data objects are used to improve the
cluster quality of interrelated data objects through an iterative
reinforcement clustering process. Experimental results show that the
proposed approach not only effectively overcomes the problem of data
sparseness caused by the high dimensional relationship space but also
significantly improves the clustering accuracy.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Confidentiality, integrity and availability are high-level
objectives of IT security. The IFIP TC-11 Working Group 11.5
has been charged with exploring the area of the integrity
objective within IT security and the relationship between
integrity in information systems and the overall internal control
systems that are established in organizations to support
corporate governance codes.
This working conference series follows its tradition to establish
the basis for an ongoing dialog between IT security specialists
and internal control specialists so that both may work more
effectively together to assist in creating effective business
systems in the future. The goals for this conference are to find
an answer to the following questions:
* what is the status quo of research and development in the area
of integrity and internal control;
* where are the gaps between business needs on the one hand
and research and development on the other and what needs to be
done to bridge these gaps;
* what precisely do business managers need to have confidence
in the integrity of their information systems and their data.
TOPICS
We solicit papers and suggestions for panel sessions, vendor
presentations and tutorials. The papers should describe original
ideas and research results on foundations and applications
related to the subject of integrity and internal control in
information systems. We particularly solicit papers presenting
business cases. Suggested topics include but are not limited to:
- integrity and internal control in Enterprise Resource
Planning systems
- integrity and internal control in e- and m-commerce
applications and infrastructure
- integrity and internal control in financial systems
- developments in internal control concepts and the impact
on integrity requirements
- integrity standards
- methods for dealing with incomplete or inconsistent
information
- efficient methods for checking integrity
- integrity requirements necessary to implement an internal
control structure within an organization
- integrity of archival data
- integrity and authentication of digital documents
- trustworthy computation

Deadline for Submission: May 2, 2003
Notification of Acceptance: June 23, 2003
Final camera-ready copy due: August 1, 2003
INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
Papers must be written in English. Papers should be limited to
5000 words, full page figures being counted as 300 words. Each
paper must include a short abstract and a list of keywords
indicating subject classification. The full names and addresses of
the authors should be printed only on the title page. The author
who is the contact person should be identified as such. Acceptance
of a paper means an obligation for at least one of the authors to
attend the conference and present the paper.
To submit your paper, send an email to jajodia(a)gmu.edu,
containing the title and abstract of your paper, authors?names, e-
mail and post addresses, and phone and fax numbers. Attach your
submission (as a MIME attachment) in PDF, Word, or portable
postscript format to the same message.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The purpose of the IRAL is to bring together researchers and developers
who are interested in exchanging new ideas and presenting results in the
field of information retrieval with an emphasis on the issues related to
Asian languages and multilingual applications. The first workshop was
held in Korea, 1996, and then we had 4 more workshops in Japan,
Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Unfortunately, because of organizing difficulties in the
steering committee members of participating Asian countries,
we could not hold workshops in 2001 and 2002. In IRAL2000 in
Hong Kong, we collocated the workshop just before ACL2000.
In the Year 2003, we have ACL2003 in Sapporo, Japan
(http://www.ec-inc.co.jp/ACL2003/) and we proposed to have
IRAL workshop as one of ACL supported workshops. We regard
having our workshop within ACL2003 as a good chance to
restart periodical gathering of IR research community.
Best papers will be considered for publication in ACM Transactions on
Asian Language Information Processing (TALIP),

TOPICS
IRAL2003 welcomes submissions of original papers in the
broad field of information storage and retrieval, but topics
contributed to Asian languages are encouraged. The technical
issues to be addressed include, but are not limited to:
IR theory
Experimentation: test collection, corpus, evaluation methodology
Systems and Implementation issues: integration with network and
database system.
Natural language processing related issues: Questioning and Answering,
summarization, cross-lingual IR, term extraction
Information filtering, routing and text classification
Application of IR technology
Web related issues: web mining, search engine
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF PAPERS:
Authors of papers are invited to submit original
contributions, not exceeding 5000 words in English to the
Program Chair of IRAL2003 by e-mail. Authors should pay
special attention to the preparation of PDF files which
include Asain fonts. Please refer to the IRAL2003 home page
http://research.nii.ac.jp/IRAL2003/ on how to prepare PDF
files, as well as details such as electronic submission
and style files.
