We invite tutorial proposals from active researchers, engineers, and practitioners on topics (such as big data etc.) of potential interest to the attendees of the main conference. We note that a tutorial should not only focus on the presenters’ previous work, but also present a good review of all significant work in the area of the topic. Each tutorial will have a length of 1.5 hours. Important Dates All deadlines are 23:59 Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time. Proposal submission due: April 1, 2024 Acceptance notification: April 15, 2024 Instructions for submission Tutorial proposals should be handled electronically, in PDF format (Max 4 pages, LNCS style), through the CMT system by April 1, 2024 (23:59 Any Where on Earth (AoE) Time). Each tutorial proposal should include the following information. - Tutorial title - Contact information of the presenters: names, affiliations, addresses, and email addresses - Motivation for the tutorial - Brief outline of the tutorial content - Specific goals and objectives - Whether the tutorial was presented elsewhere in the past (and if so) what the attendance was - Significant references of the tutorial - Short biographies of the presenters The received tutorial proposals will be reviewed by the organizers based on the importance of the topic of the proposal and the balance of coverage and depth of contents. Acceptance notifications will be sent by April 15, 2024. Tutorials will be presented during the main DASFAA-2024 conference as parallel sessions. The tutorial slides will be made available on the conference website. The conference registration fee will be waived for tutorial speakers. An honorarium will also be paid for the tutorial presenter(s). The topics of accepted tutorials and the names of the presenters will be included in the conference proceedings. 日本データベース学会の皆様名古屋市立大学の小山と申します。 7月に岐阜で開催されるDASFAAの併設ワークショップ ERDSE（Emerging Results in Data Science and Engineering）の論文募集のお知らせです。 Data Science, Data Engineeringに関する論文を幅広く募集いたします。たとえば、DEIMで発表される内容の論文でしたら、ほぼ対象に入ると思います。 Research Paperの他に、Work-in-Progress Paperのカテゴリも設け、若手研究者・学生の皆様からの萌芽的な研究の投稿もお待ちしております。ワークショップで発表頂いた論文はポスト・プロシーディングスとして Springer LNCSから刊行される予定です。投稿締切はDASFAA本会議の採択通知後、3月22日を予定しております。投稿をご検討頂けましたら幸いです。 -------------- CALL FOR PAPERS The DASFAA 2024 Workshop on Emerging Results in Data Science and Engineering (ERDSE 2024) July 2nd, 2024 Nagaragawa Convention Center, Gifu City, Japan Various systems and services, including generative AI, built on massive amounts of data, are revolutionizing our society. For their development, not only technologies related to data science, such as machine learning, but also data engineering techniques for efficiently managing large amounts of data are essential. In order for them to be accepted by society, various aspects of data management, such as privacy, security, and fairness, must also be taken into consideration. This workshop aims to provide an opportunity for presentations and discussions, especially for young researchers and students, in the area of the convergence of data science and data engineering, where many new research topics and results are emerging. The topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to: Data Science and AI: Large Language Models (LLM), Explainable AI (XAI), Interpretable Machine Learning Data Engineering and Databases: Big Data, Graph Data, Data Security, Data Privacy Information Retrieval and Recommendation: Social Media, Information Credibility, Polarization and Echo Chambers Multimedia Data: Media Understanding, AI Generated Content, Multimodal AI Human Factors: Human Computation, Crowdsourcing, Human-in-the-Loop Methods, Bias and Fairness Application Domains: Healthcare, Education, Mobility [Paper Categories] Research Papers (*) (long presentation): They report significant and original results relevant to the scope of this workshop. Human Activity Recognition has been researched in thousands of papers so far, with mobile / environmental sensors in ubiquitous / pervasive domains, and with cameras in vision domains. As well, Human Behavior Analysis is also explored for long-term health care, rehabilitation, emotion recognition, human interaction, and so on. However, many research challenges remain for realistic settings, such as complex and ambiguous activities / behavior, optimal sensor combinations, (deep) machine learning, data collection, platform systems, and killer applications. In this conference, we comprehend such research domains as ABC: Activity and Behavior Computing, and provide an open and a confluent place for discussing various aspects and the future of the ABC. The submitted papers are peer reviewed by expert researchers, and accepted based on the research quality.
