日本データベース学会の皆さま　早稲田大学の酒井と申します。情報検索国際会議のトップカンファレンスSIGIRの Asia-Pacific版、SIGIR-AP (Asia-Pacific) が立ち上がります。記念すべき第一回は今年11月に北京でハイブリッド開催されます。 SIGIRで不採録となった論文も復活できるチャンスがあります。詳しくは下記CFPとホームページをご覧ください。ご投稿をお待ちしております。 SIGIR-AP 2023 Second Call For Papers April 2023 SIGIR-AP 2023 Second Call For Papers http://www.sigir-ap.org/sigir-ap-2023/call-for-papers/ SIGIR-AP (Asia/Pacific) http://www.sigir-ap.org/ is a new regional IR conference whose scope is fundamentally the same as SIGIR. Authors of accepted papers can either present their work in-person or remotely. The conference adopts double-blind, single-track reviewing, and allows submissions of papers that are commensurate with contribution size. There are two types of SIGIR-AP submissions: Regular submissions and SIGIR-Revise-and-Resubmit submissions. Regular submissions: These are new, original contributions that have not been submitted elsewhere before. We also welcome Resource papers and Reproducibility papers. Resources papers consider test collections and labelled datasets, designs and protocols of evaluation tasks, and software tools and services for information access. Reproducibility papers repeat, reproduce, generalize, and reexamine prior work, for example analysing to what extent assumptions of the original work are valid, or identify error modes and unexpected conclusions; typically these papers involve a new team and a new experimental setup, that is, they go beyond replication. Page length: (A) Paper body + (B) references. (A) Paper body length should be 2-9 pages, and be commensurate with contribution size. (B) No page limit for the references section. SIGIR-Revise-and-Resubmit (SIGIR-RR) submissions: These are revised versions of either full or short papers that were not accepted at the immediately preceding SIGIR conference. In addition to the revised paper, the authors must include in the submission file a text explaining the revision based on the SIGIR reviews, as well as the original SIGIR submission. 開催概要データ工学と情報マネジメントに関するフォーラム／日本データベース学会年次大会（DEIM）は，データ工学と情報マネジメントに関する様々な研究テーマの討論・意見交換を目的とした研究集会です．2019年での現地開催を最後に，新型コロナウィルスの影響によりオンライン開催へと移行しました．ところが，現地開催を行いたい要望は大きく，感染症に対策しつつも現地開催を行うことは悲願でした．そこで今回は一部ですが，現地開催を実現することができました．これは，社会における新型コロナウィルスの位置付けが変化し，現地開催が許容できるような下地ができていたことに起因します． ○ 直列ハイブリッド（たぶん世界初）直列ハイブリッドとは，会期の中でオンライン開催と現地開催を完全に分割して実施する形式です．新型コロナウィルスの状況は今年度も時事刻々と変化しており，現地開催を行うことができるかどうかが確定できない状況が長く続きました．そこで，オンラインだけの開催だけでも成立すること，現地開催を行うことによってより満足度を高めることができること，従来のハイブリッドのような複雑な機材や人員確保を必要とせず単純な機材で開催可能な形態であることの三つを満たす形式として，直列ハイブリッドと呼ばれる形態を考案しました． ○ 運営の簡素化 DEIM/DEWSは運営コストが増大し，関係する研究者の負担は無視できないものとなってきました．一方で，学会の規模を縮小することやサービスの質を落とすことは学会の価値を下げます．そこで，現在の規模，サービスをなるべく保ちつつ運営を簡素化しました．たとえば査読や閲読を廃止し，基本的に全ての投稿論文が発表可能となりました．また，トラック制を導入しました．五つのトラックを準備し，それぞれのトラックで独立にセッション構成を行うことによって，運営コストを五分割しました．副次的効果として参加費や論文投稿費を下げることとなり，持続可能な学会の形に少しでも近づいたのではないかと考えています． ○ 質疑応答形式の変更昨年度のDEIMでは，口頭発表だけを連続して行い，質疑応答は全ての発表を終えたあとにまとめて行う形式としました．ところが，どのような形式で質疑を行うのかは研究分野や発表者の意向によるところも多く，一つの形式に決めることは難しいと感じました．また，座長やコメンテータであれば最適な発表形式をご選択頂けると確信しました．そこで，座長とコメンテータで適切な発表形式を選択していただきました．その結果，セッションごとに特色ある発表形式となり，より魅力的な学会となりました． ○ おわりに新型コロナウィルスを経験した後，初めての対面の学会はいかがだったでしょうか．運営に関わってくださったみなさま，長良川国際会議場，岐阜コンベンション協会，岐阜バスなど地域のみなさま，多大なご支援を頂きました協賛企業のみなさま，JTBのみなさま，そして論文を発表，学会参加をされたみなさま，多くの皆様に支えられてなんとか開催をすることができました．ありがとうございました．学会における課題は新型コロナウィルス対策だけではなく，大規模化した学会において持続可能な仕組みの構築，多くの研究者にとって魅力的な研究環境の構築など，様々な課題が山積しています．また，毎年その課題に対する回答を出さなければなりません．統計データから見ると，本コミュニティの成長は鈍化しており，下降に向かう可能性が十分に考えられる状況です．極めて強い危機感を感じつつ，より良いコミュニティ形成を構築できたらと考えています． (鈴木優岐阜大学) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ■２■ NeurIPS 2022 参加報告前川政司 (大阪大学) 2022年11月28日から12月4日にかけて開催された機械学習におけるトップ会議NeurIPS 2022 (Thirty-sixth Annual Conference on Neural I nformation Processing Systems) @ New Orleans に参加しました．投稿された10411本のうち2672本が採択され，採択率は25.6%でした．採択論文数が多いこともあり，全てポスター形式での発表でした．またweb サイトにて事前提出の発表録画を視聴することも可能でした．近年，大いに注目されている機械学習・AI分野のトップ会議であるため，GAFAをはじめとするIT関連企業がブースを開き，採用やインターン募集を行っていました．またポスターセッションでは，約500枚のポスターが一つの広いホールに掲示されており，壮観でした．私は「Beyond Real-world Benchmark Datasets: An Empirical Stu dy of Node Classification with GNNs」について発表しました．近年のホットトピックの一つであるグラフ深層学習（GNN）について，異なる特徴を持つ多様な人工データを用いることで，最先端手法の限界と改善余地を明らかにしました．私が発表したトラックである「Datasets and Benchmarks」（447本中163本採択=36%）では，機械学習手法の開発・研究にとってなくてはならないデータセットと評価フレームワークについて，多くの研究が発表されました．2021年から始まったこのトラックは，今後も継続されていく予定です．全体としては，グラフ・言語・画像・熱力学など様々なドメインの理論から応用まで幅広く発表されていました．他の機械学習・AI系の会議同様， GNN に関する論文数が増加しています．ポスターセッションでも GNN の論文の前に人だかりができていることが多かったです．最後に，現地参加を通して印象に残っていることを3つまとめておきます．1)ポスター発表のみの方が著者たちと相互にコミュケーションをとる時間が長く，個人的には非常に良い方式だと思いました．2) 発表件数の多さだけでなく，聴講参加の人も多いことが印象的でした．これまで参加した国際会議の中で，規模が圧倒的に大きいように思いました．3) 多くのアメリカの大学では，一つの研究室に4〜6人の博士学生が在籍して，トップ会議目指して切磋琢磨していると聞いて，日本の状況との差を痛感しました．国際会議に現地参加できる状況になってきましたでの，今後とも積極的に海外の研究者とも交流していきたいと思います．次回の NeurIPS 2023 も米国 New Orleans の同じ会場で開催予定です．（前川政司大阪大学大学院情報科学研究科鬼塚研究室） ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ■３■ AAAI 2023 参加報告天方大地 (大阪大学) 2023年2月に開催されたAAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligen ce (AAAI-23)に参加しました．メイントラックに私の単著論文「Divers ity Maximization in the Presence of Outliers」が採択されたため，ここで参加報告させていただきます． AAAIはもはや説明不要かと思いますが，人工知能分野のトップ会議であり，現在では，機械学習，コンピュータビジョン，データマイニング，自然言語処理，ロボティクス，数理最適化…と多岐にわたる分野をスコープとしています．AAAI-23は久しぶりの現地＋オンライン開催であり，ワシントンD.C.のホワイトハウスの近くの会場で行われました．（ワシントン・ダレス国際空港から出ているメトロが体調不良になるほど揺れ，空港から中心地へはタクシーで行けばよかったと後悔しました…）大量の参加者を考慮してか，オンサイトでの受付の際，ワクチン接種証明書と受け付け時点から48時間以内のコロナウイルス陰性証明の提出が原則必須でした．（陰性証明を提示した人しかいないとはいえ，現地でマスクしている方はほぼいない＋郷に従ってマスクを外していたので，感染しないか内心ドキドキしていましたが，特になんともありませんでした．集団感染も執筆時点では聞いておりません．）AAAI-23の参加登録者は約4200人でAAA I-22（完全オンライン）よりも約700人増加しています．AAAI-23への投稿件数は8777であり，そのうち1721本が採択（採択率19.6%）されたとのことです．投稿件数に関してはAAAI-22から減少とのことでした．（この辺り，notificationと会議での報告で数値が違っていたので，だいたいこのくらい，と思っていただくと良いと思います．）投稿の際，研究内容に関連する（先述したような）分野を指定する必要があるのですが，これは機械学習・コンピュータビジョンが群を抜いて多かったようです．また，AAAI-23は例年に引き続き，2-phase制（1-phase目での査読での評価が完全にネガティブの場合，2-phaseにまわらずにreject）が採用されています．採択論文の平均の評価は，Strong Acceptが0.3%，Acceptが 9.3%，Weak Acceptが51.3%，Borderline Acceptが37.6%，Borderli ne Rejectが1.6%だそうです．この結果を見ると，1-phase目でreject された論文が仮に2-phase目にまわっても採択される可能性は低いことが分かります．一方，平均でWeak Acceptになれば採択される確率はかなり高かったことも分かります．しかし，平均がStrong AcceptやAcceptでもリジェクトされたものもあったようです．これについてはメタ査読者の判断となりますので，（間違い等がメタ査読者によって発見された場合を除くと）運要素が無視できないことも明らかと言えるかもしれません．さらに，上の結果からも示唆されますが，Acceptよりも高い評価をする査読者はほぼいないことも統計的に報告されています．今回，Borderline Ac cept/Rejectについては，控えめに使うようにと指示があったのですが， 30%を超える頻度で使用されていたようです．今後も同様の評価方法が続くのであれば，Weak Accept以上を狙って論文を書き，Borderline Rejectに対してリバッタルで反転させることが重要になるかと推察します．（私の論文はこのケースでした．）今回採択された私の論文（Diversity Maximization in the Presence of Outliers）は，アウトライアが存在するデータの集合の要約を作成する（n個からk個に削減する）際に多様性を最大化しつつアウトライアを含まない部分集合を計算する問題に取り組んだものです．アウトライアが存在しないケースは長年研究されていたのですが，実データのようにnoisy なデータが含まれている想定に初めて貢献しました．Diversity Maximi zation問題は（アウトライアが無くても）NP困難であり，多項式時間で1 /2以上の近似ができないことが証明されています．本論文では，（1）前処理なし，オンライン時間がデータ数に線形，近似boundが1/2，アウトライアを出力に含まない，を保証したアルゴリズム，および（2）前処理時間がデータ数に線形，オンライン時間がデータ数に依存しない，近似boundが（ほぼ）1/6，アウトライアを出力に含まない確率が一定，を保証したアルゴリズムを提案しています．残念ながら口頭発表には選出されず，ポスター発表のみ行いました．ハイブリッドという特性も影響していると思いますが，私の発表日ではポスター掲載率もぱっと見で半分程度であり，オンライン開催で課題とされているポスターセッションの難しさを感じました．口頭発表セッションにおいても事前提出のビデオを再生しただけ，といったものもあったようで，それが良いか悪いかは分かりませんが，今後（国際）会議のセッションがどのように構成・運営されていくかは注目すべき点かと思いました．最後に，AAAI-24はカナダのバンクーバーにて開催予定とのことです．Co vid-19に由来する規制が段々緩和されており，海外渡航も一時期よりはかなり障壁が下がったと思います．（コロナ前よりは準備が必要な書類等が多いですが，ワシントンD.C.への渡航で不便を感じる点は特にありませんでした．）また，DEIMでも機械学習関連の研究に関する発表が増えており，AAAIのスコープに入るものもたくさんあると思いますので，そのような研究をされている方は投稿を検討してみてはいかがでしょうか．（天方大地大阪大学大学院情報科学研究科） Call for Postdoctoral Researchers, Research Assistants and Research Interns We, at the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) - Tokyo, are looking for postdoctoral researchers, research assistants and research interns. The candidate is expected to work in one of the following directions: 1) Scalable and distributed graph processing / dynamic graphs / stream processing of graphs. The applicant is expected to work on the research and development related to distributed, scalable and real-time graph processing. A background in graph processing and big data processing platforms is desirable. 2) Big spatial data / real-time data integration and processing. The applicant is expected to work on the research and development related to distributed and scalable spatial data processing using state of the art big data processing platforms. A background in big data processing platforms is desirable. 3) Graph analysis and graph learning, with emphasis on accelerating, scaling up these technologies and applying them to large-scale data.
