Database, information, and knowledge systems have always been a core subject of computer science. The ever increasing need to distribute, exchange, and integrate data, information, and knowledge has added further importance to this subject. Advances in the field will help facilitate new avenues of communication, to proliferate interdisciplinary discovery, and to drive innovation and commercial opportunity. Since 1990, DEXA has been an annual international conference which showcases state-of-the-art research activities in database, information, and knowledge systems. DEXA provides a forum to present research results and to examine advanced applications in the field. attendees an introduction to the state-of-the-art topics in research,
development and applications in database technologies and advanced data
management, processing and analysis systems. We invite tutorial proposals
from active researchers, engineers, and practitioners on topics (such as
big data etc.) of potential interest to the attendees of the main
conference. We note that a tutorial should not only focus on the
presenters’ previous work, but also present a good review of all
significant work in the area of the topic. Each tutorial will have a
length of 1.5 hours.
Important Dates
All deadlines are 23:59 Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time.
Proposal submission due: April 1, 2024
Acceptance notification: April 15, 2024
Instructions for submission
Tutorial proposals should be handled electronically, in PDF format (Max 4
pages, LNCS style), through the CMT system by April 1, 2024 (23:59 Any
Where on Earth (AoE) Time). Each tutorial proposal should include the
following information.
- Tutorial title
- Contact information of the presenters: names, affiliations, addresses,

- Motivation for the tutorial
- Brief outline of the tutorial content
- Specific goals and objectives
- Whether the tutorial was presented elsewhere in the past (and if so)
what the attendance was
- Significant references of the tutorial
- Short biographies of the presenters
The received tutorial proposals will be reviewed by the organizers based
on the importance of the topic of the proposal and the balance of coverage
and depth of contents. Acceptance notifications will be sent by April 15,
2024. Tutorials will be presented during the main DASFAA-2024 conference
as parallel sessions. The tutorial slides will be made available on the

Various systems and services, including generative AI, built on massive amounts of data, are revolutionizing our society. For their development, not only technologies related to data science, such as machine learning, but also data engineering techniques for efficiently managing large amounts of data are essential. In order for them to be accepted by society, various aspects of data management, such as privacy, security, and fairness, must also be taken into consideration. This workshop aims to provide an opportunity for presentations and discussions, especially for young researchers and students, in the area of the convergence of data science and data engineering, where many new research topics and results are emerging.
The topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to:
Data Science and AI: Large Language Models (LLM), Explainable AI (XAI), Interpretable Machine Learning
Data Engineering and Databases: Big Data, Graph Data, Data Security, Data Privacy
Information Retrieval and Recommendation: Social Media, Information Credibility, Polarization and Echo Chambers
Multimedia Data: Media Understanding, AI Generated Content, Multimodal AI
Human Factors: Human Computation, Crowdsourcing, Human-in-the-Loop Methods, Bias and Fairness
Application Domains: Healthcare, Education, Mobility
[Paper Categories]
Research Papers (*) (long presentation): They report significant and original results relevant to the scope of this workshop. [Scope and Objectives]
xSIG (cross-disciplinary workshop on computing Systems, Infra-
structures, and programminG) is a workshop from 2017,
inheriting the tradition of JSPP,SACSIS,and ACSI. It solicits
contributions from a wide range of fields related to computing systems,
infrastructures, and programming, spanning all areas covered by the
sponsoring special interest groups (cross-SIG).
The main objectives of xSIG are to provide a forum to present and
discuss research ideas among researchers spanning many fields and to
raise young researchers through a globally standard peer review process.
In particular,
- We hope authors of xSIG workshop to advance their research based on
feedback received and step up to submitting their work to
international conferences and journals. We do not publish
workshop proceedings. The papers presented in xSIG will be available
only to the audience during the workshop. For those who want to
publish their work, we collaborate with IPSJ Transactions on ACS for
Special Issue on xSIG.
- We hope to give authors substantial feedback as well as a place for
young researchers to practice/improve writing papers for review,
through the globally standard conference format of submitting papers
for review, receiving/writing reviews, discussing papers in the
program committee meeting, etc. For this, we establish
Young Program Committee alongside the regular Program
Committee and welcome the participation of young researchers
including students to it, for "an early exposure" of motivated
students to peer review work normally done by senior researchers.
- We award many students.
From 2020, xSIG is co-located with SWoPP event (Summer United Workshops
on Parallel, Distributed and Cooperative Processing), in which many SIGs
on computing systems held workshops.
