Dear Topic Mappers,

shortly before Christmas and in the midst of the economic crisis we have some good news. The Topic Maps Lab at University of Leipzig [1], Gemany is hiring a crowd of enthusiastic Topic Mappers!

Established in 2008, the Topic Maps Lab has now the opportunity to bring together researchers and developers for working on innovative Topic Maps solutions. The Lab frees from frustrating constraints in commercial environments. Funded by the German ministry for education and research (BMBF), the Topic Maps Lab will establish the following three research groups:

*Semantic Integration*: This group is working on scalable and high-performance integration solutions, based on Topic Maps. The goal is having a very flexible integration layer for structured and unstructures legacy data.

*Semantic Interfaces*: This group is working on implementing highly flexible interfaces to Topic Maps stores, like query languages, file systems or ontology driven APIs. The goal is a toolkit for the efficient development of Topic Maps applications and web portals.

*Mass Customization*: This group is woking on methodologies for the effective usage of the developed tools in integration projects. The goal is a bag of methods and tools to execute Topic Maps projects in a standardised and productive way.

Each group will consist of three researchers and some student assistants. Alltogether the Topic Maps Lab will bring together up to ten researcher and a lot of student assistants in one place, working together on the future of Topic Maps. We are looking for interested and enthusiastic new members for the team!

The Topic Maps Lab provides you the opportunity to publish scientific papers and to attend interesting conferences. The lab offers the possibility of a doctorate, but there is no obligation for you.

The Topic Maps Lab offices are situated in Leipzig, Germany. Your personal presence in the offices is desired. We also invite applications for part time positions. All positions in the Topic Maps Lab are salaried according to TVL-13-O (which is the standard compensation for researchers in German institutions). Presumably, all positions will be available from April, 1st 2009. The contracts are fixed to 24 months. As precondition, you must have an university degree.
